They search and give options that will fit in to the team/tactics etc

I agree

we are in a better position than when Klopp took over 9 years ago.

Not really a new system at all and I'd imagine one Slot is very much used to from his time in  the Dutch league

It's only really in England that the system seems to be an alien concept.
