Have to say we pretty much controlled the 2nd half as well. We were not attacking with vigor but playing more for possession, so not as spectacularly entertaining, but it was working until the center backs got caught out and Alisson made that bad decision.
I guess the goal is completely legal but the referee blowing the whistle at that point is....questionable. Not Brighton's problem and fair play to their man for taking advantage.
Have to say we defended well with 10 men, and Adrian made a save when needed. Yes, he spilled one, but all's well that ends well. Adrian is a character by the way. Loved his reaction after recovering that ball (telling the whole stadium he was sorry) and also to Lallana after Adam headed one to him under pressure. Lallana was very involved in the team defending btw and I thought justified the decision to sub him in. Well done Jürgen and Adam.
So minus the big goalkeeping error and then a rather fluky goal, it was a pretty comprehensive win for us. If there's a down side it's that we didn't finish better in the 1st half when we could have put it out of reach, but as I've mentioned before, scoring goals at this level is harder than people like John Aldridge seem to remember.
So we get three more points, play well without Fabinho, see City and Chelsea both drop points (Leicester will win tomorrow) and Alisson gets a night off so Adrian can get some match practice in against one of the very worst teams in the Premiership. What's not to like?
Up the 11-points clear Reds.
