Shocking half

Glad to get to half time. Look leggy don’t we, they are pressing the life out of us and winning every loose ball. Wish we had a fit Milner to bring on tbh. Ox looks tired and uncomfortable further forward, Gini looks tired and Fab still not match fit. It’s in midfield where we are losing this and I wonder if we’ll see Keita and/or Minamino before long. Also wouldn’t be surprised if we change our shape.

Fans didnt help so players may need a Klopp rocket to wake them up here.

High line and no pressure on the ball a recipe for defeat. Poor use of the ball in attack too. When Bobby was fouled it would have been a pen IMO if the ball wasn't 5 foot above him.

On the odd occasion we have countered we have not used the ball well enough. Saints thankfully so far have been even more wasteful when 2 V 1 with us after Gomez keeps getting caught in behind.

Making our own problems.hard to figure our formation. Far too may long balls just hoping.too many basic errors

Teams aren't going to just roll over for us.

The fact is, Saints have set up well, played well and it's now up to Klopp to find a way to counter them.

First and foremost credit to Southampton who have pressed us like crazy! They've sat back as well but they seem to have their tactics spot on in regards to when to sit and when to press.

Not much good to say about our first-half performance really except that Ox looked dangerous on a few occasions and Salah seems up for it.

Would take off Gini personally and see what Keita can do with about 30mins to go. Gini just hasn't been at it for me, this game I think needs a forward-thinking player in midfield, with Ox out on the left we are lacking it through the middle.

We have been slow on ball Joe,Ox,Gini caught more than once . Would hook Fabinho if no immediate improvement  Hendo back in there and crying out for Keita . Ward prowse is weak link with no Mane we are not exploiting it

Sums up the first half

Passing has been slow when we get the ball and given Soton set up there should be room to work the channels but we haven exposed it.

Also we been guilty of dilly dallying with the ball and not use to team pressing us this hard. Hopefully some adjustments at half time and we can come out strong and win this.

Var is so frustrating, that is a foul on Firmino all day long, but he didn't quite foul him enough to overturn the refs decision!? I'm sorry but that's crazy if its a foul it should be a pen simple as that. To say you can see it's a foul but not give it takes away any credibility VAR has
