In other words, he couldn't find a way out legally so he's going to collect his paychecks and bide his time till next summer.

      Interesting development today....

Jorge Messi issues statement, replies to LaLiga
A short while ago, Jorge Messi issued a reply to LaLiga's claims that his son remains under contract with FC Barcelona. The letter referred to the statement issued by LaLiga on Sunday 30 August, which stated that Messi's contract with Barcelona, which was due to expire in June 2021, was still valid.

"We do not know which contract LaLiga has analysed," Jorge Messi's letter began. "Or on what basis it can be claimed that that contract contains a "retention clause" which remains valid if the player had decided unilaterally to leave the club on completion of the 2019/season".

Seems Jorge is about as bright as his son and no doubt as good at paying tax etc. If the contract stipulates a fixed date each year then it is utterly irrelevant what date the season actually finishes.

Seems you were right because he’s just released a statement saying he’s basically forced into staying.

Barca stuck with an unhappy Messi, it just gets better for that club 😂

A contract is a contract. The clause in question has gone.

Two horrid businesses going head to head. No one will win.

      Guess I was right.

"In an exclusive interview with Goal, the Argentine star confirmed that he will stay with FC Barcelona for the final year of his contract. "I wasn't happy and I wanted to leave. I have not been allowed this in any way and I will stay at the club so as not to get into a legal dispute," Messi told Goal."

Him and the Kevah tit are literally the first port of call for any agent wanting to find their players a transfer.

Why was I so angry at the wee man nearly a year ago?

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer club this …
