Let's hope that it doesn't end with just pulling out of the ESL and that it goes beyond that.  Measures need to be put into place to stop clubs from spending ludicrous amounts of money, stop players from making more in a week than most of us make in 3 years, and to reduce ticket prices so normal working class people can still be involved.  If we collectively agree this is a game by the working man and for the working man, then there is still a long way to go to restore the virtue of the beautiful game....

As much as I want them gone the reality is there are only a very small number of people that can afford to buy us and even then most of them probably won't want to buy a football club. We're stuck with them for the medium term at least.

An embarrassing, absurd fiasco if news of clubs withdrawing is true (encouraging though it is). Who would play fast and loose in this way with the very future of the game and the hopes of millions of fans but for a bunch of arrogant, out-of-touch billionaires?

I know, but this sh*t show creates a unique opportunity for UEFA and the FA to actually do something good for a change.  Let's see if they are happy to just have their revenue stream back in tact, or if they really do care about the virtue of the game...

I can't help but think UEFA sorting a financial package has something to do with this.

This isn't a victory, this is just billionaires playing hard ball to get more money, they did so they can withdraw.

Nothings changed, we're just back to where we were, £14.99 pay per views and multiple subscriptions to watch our own League.

Right, so to make the Premeir league fair, and prevent clubs like Man City and Chelsea ruining the game, all we need to do is protest for a couple of days and wave a few flags.

Manchester City have withdrawn from the European Super League (ESL) and Chelsea are also preparing to do so.

Efforts to leave come just two days after both were announced as two of six English clubs to sign up to the controversial new competition.

The ESL has been widely criticised since being announced on Sunday.

Around 1,000 fans gathered outside Chelsea's Stamford Bridge home ground before their game against Brighton on Tuesday to protest their involvement.

Chelsea and City were part of English football's 'big six' clubs - alongside Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham - to have agreed to join the new league.
