I think JĂźrgen may have conceded any hopes of top 4, I also think he doesnât fancy Europa Thursdayâs & late Sundayâs, I might be wrong here but I think heâs already planning for next season, even if it is without any European football, unless weâre reigning Champions, and I sort of get it
I don't think he honestly cares about the Thursday-Sunday schedule. He wants more training time to prepare games, so to him, there's no difference between Thursday-Sunday and Wednesday-Saturday/Saturday-Tuesday. It's still 2 games a week to him. The fixation about what day it is, is more of a fan thing.
Plus we're regularly playing Thursday-Sunday now anyway, while we're still in the European Cup.
Itâs more embarrassing than 10 years ago because back then we hadnât won the league and world title the season before. This is a monumental collapse.
And the 3pm Saturday kick off times isnât me coming up with an excuse for Liverpool, itâs one of the reasons I personally have lost interest in football since covid. I used to love Saturday afternoons at work or at home watching sky sports. Seeing the league table change every few minutes.
You haven't lost interest at all. I hear it every week, "lost interest in the game", "not enjoying the game", and "done with the game". And like boomerangs, there they are back the next week, watching games as they always did, then come here telling us what they think in the post mortem that follows.
Saturday 3pm kos in our league are rare these days, and have been for LFC for well over 20 years. If that was a genuine reason for you losing interest in the game, then you would have lost it decades ago and you'll never get it back.
It is a collapse and it isn't. Yeah by the headline stats, it's horrendous. Add in the caveats and the contexts, and the situation is not as apocalyptic as the nutjobs make it out to be. This is not a normal season, and results are not what they were in the past. So when they screech that we've lost a few home games in a row, they conveniently ignore that everyone in the league is losing lots of games at home this season. Not one single club has a perfect home record. The idea that you win your home games and take what you can away, is now the other way round. Even for us. It shouldn't be like that, as it's the same situation for both teams during a game, but for some reason it is. There's only been 2 coaches sacked all season, and 1 was at a club about to be relegated.
All our focus now has to be preparing for August, to hit the ground running with a full strength side, playing games under normal circumstances. If we do that, we'll be fine.
