Yeah, thats what technical oscars are for! Trying to justify the films best picture nomination with a comment like that actually proves my point more
I thought it was brilliant, as a spectacle. Seriously, i walked out thinking 'Wow' at how good it looked. But then i thought about the film itself... and it's sh*t, it really is. It's threadbare plot, slow, predictable. Nothing a best picture nominee should ever be.
As Huyton said, and many others have - it was Dances With Wolves with Aliens. And Dances With Wolves was 10x better anyways, not that its a film i love either.
