Who cares when it was sorted or when it was announced?
Not as if announcing it today had kept the nutcases on Twitter from complaining about the 'window'.
Take the nutcases out of the equation...why does everything get measured by twitter responses nowadays? There are some intelligent supporters (even on this forum) that see this as a calculated effort to try and take the attention away from what has been a quiet window. A window that a lot of supporters (not just the nutcases) are questioning. It's pretty obvious that the club know people are upset so they do things like this in hopes that it placates folks when in reality, all it really does is make them even more suspicious and irritated.
Like someone said in another thread, why do you wait till summer (late summer in some cases) to redo these deals? You've known their contracts were running down for how long? Just get it done early. In fact I suspect this type of news would be better received and put people more at ease if it were done sooner because it comes across as "we don't have money for transfers, we only have money to re-sign our own players". And like it or not, supporters expect both....keep your players AND sign new ones.
It's great that we got his deal done, I knew he wasn't going anywhere so it does feel a bit staged to announce it today. And one thing supporters don't like, is being treated like they are stupid (even if a lot of us are).
