Best WC Final i have ever seen. Going back to 1982. The swing of emotions and momentum. Unreal.

Happy to see Messi get one.  Well deserved.  I thought he had an edge on Maradona before anyway, but Maradona is still one of the best ever. Despite the "hand of God' goal. He was great with Napoli in his prime.

My grandfather used to watch all the Serie A games every Sunday morning, thats what got me into football originally.  In fact it in a way made me a Liverpool supporter. Because of Istanbul and how my grandfather hated Milan so much ;D. Big South vs North thing in Italy. Back in those days the CL was just starting to be broadcast here in the States.

That and when I found out it was the Kop singing on that Pink Floyd song Fearless haha. My favorite band .

But Messi is the greatest i have seen in my lifetime.

Ronaldo must be standing on a ledge somewhere ;D

Today's game was one for the ages.

Enjoyed the tournament, brought a lot of light and colour to a dark and cold winter. I accept it was a disgrace to hold it there , but we don't watch football conscious of all the corruption and human rights. The football wasn't always the best but (with apologies to any Liverpool fans who genuinely support them)...Kane's penalty miss in the Quarter final was frankly hilarious.

Dodgy location given for a WC but ended up being fairly good in parts tbf.
Glad France didn’t luck it to win it and thought the Argies played well and deserved it.
Don’t really like Messi but pleased he won it tonight as he’s an all time great and deserves it. Still not as good as Maradonna though 😉

If you’re going to do that surely you need the John Lennon glasses and scar to pull it off!

Great final and what turned out to be a good World Cup on the pitch.

Still many questions around if it should ever have taken place there in the first place but that's for another day I guess.

I'm tired of hearing how Messi is under Maradona's shadow. Don't forget his greatest goal was a blatant f***in' handball. He threw that ball into the net.

TBF the other goal Maradona scored against Enland in 86 is probably the best goal in WC history. He was a genius for about 8 years but does not have the longevity of Messi.
Maradona got kicked by defenders constantly and was still able to be amazing, Messi and modern players get much more protection. Then obviously Maradona had addiction and personality issues that limited his genius when he got older, maybe the personality problems contributed to his genius in the early years. Messi appears to be a genuinely nice person who is very committed to being the best.

Messi edges it for me but I think it's an argument that will never stop.

Feel for those who said they wouldn't watch as they had lost interest. How could you not enjoy a game of football as enthralling as that? Immense spectacle.

I watched, it was a good game but I don’t care about either country and don’t care about Messi

Nah. Messi. I used to be in the Pele camp as a kid, Maradona a close second, then this little fella came along.

It's all about opinions on here and there's ultimately no absolute answer to it...but It wasn't just his physical strength or balance, his technical ability with either his feet or his head....but how he saw the game in his head, his imagination...He really was the Michelangelo of this great game

Deserves his moment doesn't he after seeing his career cut short by a cruel turn of fate. Bless him.
