See the Danish film crew had a problem with Qatar security being rather heavy handed and they have had to apologise. Fully accredited but they tried to stop them. FIFA are going to have to answer a lot of questions after this sham World Cup

Anyone defending this World Cup and Qatar in general...are f**king cu*ts.

but how come its taken all these people making a noise now 8 years or more to realise what is happening and now its too late. Why didnt countries refuse to play there it would have taken 3 or 4 at most to change it but money has changed hands and here we are too late its happening from Sunday and as soon as it starts football will take over and everything else will be forgotten.

Huh? There have been thousands of reports in the press over the last decade or so regarding the suffering of migrant workers and human rights.

You have our beloved England team who stand for equality and show this by taking a knee and travelling in a plane called ‘rainbow’ (even Harry Kane was talking up rainbow laces not long back), and you have Southgate moaning about the term ‘WAGS’ because it’s disrespectful to women…

And then they fly off to Qatar where homosexuality is illegal, women have much less rights then men and the UN has stated that “Migrant workers in Qatar face
      Structural racism.”

      The hypocrisy is laughable.

Every nation worth its salt should have said “no” when Qatar won/bought the tournament.

But then you have the Amazon owner letting thousands of his staff go unemployed to save costs and then he gives Dolly Parton £100 million to give to charity…

Or these clowns flying on private jets to Egypt to discuss how we can cut down on carbon footprints.

      Hypocrisy is everywhere.

What would be a great statement in Qatar is if every teams takes a knee before the game and then as the whistle is blown to kick off all the players hold hands and begin kissing. Passionately. For 45 minutes. Forget the ball. Just kiss til you can’t kiss no more.

It is worth remembering that in 1966 when the World Cup was in England homosexuality was illegal.
Women had less rights than men (paid less for same job) and couldn’t have an abortion if they wanted.
And black people had a lot less rights. Companies could still refuse to serve them drinks in a bar and the signs ‘No Irish No blacks and no gypsies’ were common.

Maybe Qatar is lagging 50 years behind us. But it’s not exactly the dark ages that some people make out. Perhaps in 50 years time Qatar will look at another nation and gasp at how their laws seem to discriminate against a certain type of folk.

In Japan for example, the age of sexual consent is 13 but they are not allowed to drink or smoke until they are 20.

“You have to wait until the girl is 16!?”
      “You let the women vote?!”
“You actually pay the black man?!”
“You don’t hit gays with sticks?!”

I guess it shows that a lot of what we think is right is more because it’s what we have always known. We are used to it.

So on that note I’m going to assume that Qatar is simply a few decades behind the UK and perhaps this World Cup will highlight and introduce equality issues. And then we can watch as the trans folk join every women sport possible and dominate for years to come and the migrants that do get into the country can live happily ever after washing cars and cutting hair.

See today Fifa decided to let fans know they are not going to be selling beer at the stadiums just couple days before it starts. Sure going to be a lot of disappointment from supporters and from Budwiser who is big sponsor as the "official" beer of the world cup

Don't think they were ever going to be selling beer at the stadiums. I thought everyone knew that.  They are going to have designated areas outside the venue where people can drink if they want to (albeit at a heavy monetary cost).

As far as my understanding the original idea was to have stations outside the stadium (hiding them away from article I read) but now those are gone as part of this new ruling.

Considering what they did in Brazil when this situation game up they must fifa some pile of money to for this decision to happen.

I think we can assume that FIFA executives will be able to get into corporate hospitality for a drink.

Spose in the overall context of what's going on in the world, this is small potatoes.
But it gives a little insight into how these places operate.
WC planning has been ongoing for years.
They have obviously made a decision to let fans come thinking one thing, in the knowledge that they would make this last minute change.

In saying that, can't say I feel 'sorry' for fans going to the WC.
You roll the dice, you take your chances.
They might be awash with money, but they're in the dark ages in many respects.
