08/09 maybe when we beat Mancs 4-1 and Bitters 3-0? Could be wrong.
4-1 and 2-0. This is the first season since, that we've won both games away from home. The last time we took 6 points from 6 against both of them in the same season, was the treble year. We'll get a chance to match that after Christmas.
If we could just tighten up the defense a little bit……
We've conceded 12 goals in 14 games this season, it took 4.5 games last year to concede that amount. I know people want us to keep clean sheets every week but it's impossible. Even the teams above us are conceding goals now.
To borrow one of Rodgers phrases, we started fast and finished strong. In between though, we were sloppy and unconvincing, and left lots of room for improvement. Only when we got the third goal did we regain control of the game again.
After 21 minutes, one of our many first half corners was headed away. The toffee in the crowd who got it, decided he was going to demonstrate how they can keep the ball. Three and a half minutes later, he finally lost possession and the ball finally reappeared in the middle of our attack, and he left the game early by force rather than choice.
It's our first win there in 5 years, and our next unbeaten run against them is underway. As for them, they remind me of Newcastle. A badly managed and badly run club that get bad results and finish nowhere. They think that a big noise and a few boos makes them a big club, when the reality is they have done nothing of major significance since 1987, and are merely just a blip on the radar nowadays.
As for us, we're off to face Wolves. Away games are rarely ones to look forward to, but if you're going to pick a week to have one, it doesn't get much better than when it's the reverse of the last game of the season.
