What with Gasly signing on at Alpha Tauri for another season next year, is there an argument that he lacks ambition / the right management team? He's a fine driver but it saddens me that he tolerates a company where he was treated so appallingly by Red Bull even though he has proved his worth (and some) at Alpha Tauri ever since he was demoted back there. Surely he could have tried angling for a move elsewhere - he'd do a better job at McLaren than Ricciardo I reckon. He's not a Max Verstappen or Charles Leclerc but he can probably do better than playing the lead in Red Bull's second unit.

Problem is he doesn't have any other option.

Williams have all but confirmed Piastri and Albon. I don't see why Alfa Romeo would change their lineup (Zhou does well enough and brings money). Aston Martin will never fire the boss's kid. Renault already has too many options. Haas would be a step down.

Ricciardo is under contract for next year, and the clauses that have been mentioned to release him are actually in Danny Ric's hands, not the team.

I think it's reasonably smart from Gasly to wait for another year, potentially for Hamilton's seat, or Ricciardo's, in a team that he knows, and where his reputation is "safe".

I’d be gutted if Gasly got merc seat, it’s a pipe dream of mine but would love Norris to get it.

2008 British GP Lewis under a bit of pressure at the time people questioned him getting a McClaren driven wins the GP in the wet and laps all but 2 in the field and wins by over a minute and all these lyears late after what should be 8 drivers Championship not 7 some people still grumble and moan about him. Hopefully if its wet  this weekend we could see h im challenge a bit further up the grid

someone needs to help me out here over Piquet's comments. He doesnt deny using the "N" word but says there was no racial intent ???.
Then Bernie Eccleston says Toto could pay off Hamilton's seat for half his fee and get someone else in and save £20mil.
YOu can understand how Lewis feels people using his name to remain in the news a bit like Danny Mills commenting on LFC knowing he will have his comments posted because its LFC.
Now what will Max do with Piquet and his wife beating father ....God I would love Lewis to win this weekend taking Max out in the process.

His 2008 drive is right up there amongst the greatest drives I've ever seen. His title ricsl by comparison spun something like 7 or 8 times in that same race.

I think it's similar to Suarez calling Evra 'negrito'. The meaning behind it isn't exactly similar to the "N word" but in this day and age, it's still 100% unacceptable. There's no excuse for that kind of language, regardless of your intent.

Unfortunately, Lewis will always divise people. Some will try to belittle his achievements, others will use his name to raise their own profile, and the worst of them will show their true nature and be openly racist. Social media gave those a platform and they're not shy about using it.

there seems to have been real malice in Piquets words and he said it twice I certainly would not  be bringing Luis words into this as a comparison.
Lewis doesnt divide people people have divided opinions on him he conducts himself  impeccably and has been F1's best asset for more than a decade.

his lap times against drivers on the same tyres were just off the scale many not able to keep cars in a straight line.

So f1 chooses to distance itself over Ecclestone's pathetic pro Putin comments and his demand that Lewis merely 'ignores' the racism that has come his way.

I mean, f1 was reluctant to drop the Russian GP entirely and then promoted a complete farce in Saudi Arabia amidst a backdrop of a bombed oil refinery. If ever there's a sport that props up and actively courts murderous regimes, it's this one.

Along with the incessant abuse and dog whistle comments coming Hamilton's way and only half a year after the total farce of Abu Dhabi GP, I have to say this sport isn't looking too pretty at the moment. On top of that, barely a week goes by without historic venues facing the chop in favour of cheap, tacky, soulless PR stunts like Miami and next year Las Vegas.

It's amazing just how much last year's success was entirely down to the driving of two men, Verstappen and Hamilton. They covered up a lot of the growing issues in this sport.

FP1 just about to start Mercedes sound pretty optimistic I wouldnt mind young George getting his first win or Lando but a Lewis win would just be so sweet. What about Lewis , George and Lando on the Podium.

Some interesting comments from Lando about George Russell in the Mercedes saying that since he's moved there a bit of the 'fun' and personality has gone out of him.

Don't really see it that way. I just see an increasingly mature adult in George who knows where the line is between professionalism and playtime. That's not to say Lando isn't - he's got his own style but for George, it's an approach that is working to his benefit.

Schumacher defined that line better than anyone else - at the race track could appear cold and uncommunicative but could be quite the social animal away from the f1 circus!
