You would really think Melo should be up to speed now and get some minutes should be fresh as a daisy . If he can't get in now with the slump we are in now then this will go down as a shocking signing

Suppose the bigest decision will be the Nunez one. For me he has to start, against Brighton he was behind Bobby and Jota and in the end only got a few minutes. So will the Boss reverse the pecking order?

Boss has said Trent is a good defender but doesn't always defend very well. I'd go Joe, Trent in mid, Mo...Joe,Trent,Mo...down our right hand side.

Bit like the Spiderman film..."Go web go"....Joe Trent Mo.....I'll get me coat.

Nice team, Could Konate even start as well ?

I really dont know what to think about team for tonight.

Id be worried if klopp makes too many changes (5 max ?).

Also I Kind of feel he will let the same team as saturday but depends on fitness.

      Fek knos. l o l

No one knows mate except  perhaps JĆ¼rgen & Pep, Si is being very bold & brave with his options but I canā€™t see Klopp dropping Mo or Trent and if he did, he wouldnā€™t choose a CL fixture, one we need to absolutely win,
Until Ramsey is ready & raring to go JĆ¼rgen wonā€™t shift Trent unless he is forced to thru injury or suspension so me believes heā€™ll stick with his tried & trusted in such a pivotal game, its possible though heā€™ll play Nunez in between Diaz & Mo, but I fancy Jota in there instead, Nunez can replace Jota after 65 or so, fresh legs + added height up against  a tiring defence would give us another dimension of attack,

Hendo has to start for me being our leader, manager & bollocking giver on the pitch, also heā€™s the only f**ker who covers for Trent going forward properly, Fabinho in his DM role is vital for us, and although heā€™s not been at his best of late, Iā€™d rather have a 80% Fabinho than a 0% Fabinho , Thiago completes the trio for me, when this fellaā€™s on song there ainā€™t many better, has to start for me, without him weā€™re rudderless, and lose the only real creativity from midfield and obviously linking up play with Diaz, Mo & Jota, again like Nunez for Jota, Harv or Carv can replace Thiago and weā€™d still have a creative element on the pitch,

I appreciate that Joe can be used as a rwb, and he has at some point needs to get back on the horse so to speak, but not tonight, not the first game back after his woeful performance, itā€™s too big a game for us to except him to perform the way we will need him to, so Iā€™m expecting a X1 like thusā€¦ā€¦.

I agree Nunez should start against Rangers tonight,it is time Salah was benched. It will be a relief to have Konate back in contention for a place, whether tonight or in the next few games.

Despite Rangers deemed as the weakest team in the group, the Reds need to be on top of their game to produce the right result or else questions really will be asked !

Letā€™s get one thing straight once and for all , Trent Alexander Arnold is NOT a midfielder, he may have played there when he was pubeless but his talents are as a attacking wing back, thatā€™s his strength, defensively he may have a slight issue but we have players who cover his frailties,

Joe Gomez is a CB, thatā€™s his strength weā€™ve all seen him at his best and unfortunately seen him at his worst too, he CAN cover at rb at times of need, but itā€™s absolutely futile and dare I say bordering on idiotic to have two players both in positions where square pegs in round holes just wonā€™t work and would probably be worse, with either not knowing whether to stick or twist,

      great post mate.

I echo your sentiment about scottish football, were not so bad just now.

Also about both old firm, I couldve supported either or, but my dad got me into our local team the `mighty MptherWell', I actually hate the fact lanarkshire has more old firm fans than support local teams. I have many friends on both sides, the celtic ones are talking more about this game than the gers ones. me being a well fan enjoy watching both oold firms get pumped except in europe where they represent scotland.

Tonight is different cos its the mighty reds im hoping for a good game but points going to us.

This all feels very familiar. Iā€™m a new football fan and a new Liverpool supporter, but perhaps I can give some insight from the world of basketball, which Iā€™ve been a long-time fan of.

I follow the Houston Rockets. Back in 2012, they got a great player and became a good team. They had gotten better for 3 straight years and had one of the best records in the league in 2014 and lost in the conference semifinals, which is basically a top 4 finish. They had real championship aspirations.

Then in 2015, when they were expected to compete for a championship, they inexplicably finished 41-41, and barely made the playoffs. It felt just like this Liverpool season. The entire season we were trying to figure out whatā€™s going on. We kept discussing strategy, fitness, desire, coaching, etc. We kept waiting for them to figure it out and get out of a slump any day now. But it never happened. They had some flashes here and there that they figured it out.. but ultimately, they never did.

Management ended up firing the head coach and the entire coaching staff, trading several players and shaking up the roster, and hiring a coach known for innovation. The next season, they had a good record again. The season after that, they had the best record in the league and the best record in their teamā€™s history and were legitimately going to win it all if not for an untimely injury in the playoffs that left them 1 game short of a championship berth.

I hope Liverpool can turn it around, but Iā€™ve seen this movie before, albeit in a different sport.

Although the teams have never played each other in competitive tournaments, there have been a few friendlies over the years, including a game not long after Liverpool formed.
Came across this match report on a Rangers forum. The game was played in October 1892.

You should have told the Rangers team ,that to their faces ,as they were laying a wreath at the Hillsbourgh memorial at Anfield

I'm referring to their supporters not the players per se. Although I suspect the few Scots left in the team wouldn't be slow to join in the "party" songs.

      BONJOUR !!

Well in what area of the pitich has Trent made his name..as an attacking wing back...in reality that is attacking midfielder..all of his great exploits has been in that area of the pitch.

So your claim that Trent is "not a midfielder" is incorrect.  Doesn't matter whether the Boss plays him as a midfielder...the fact is he can play that position. He demonstrates in every time he plays. Lost his England place because of his sometimes poor defending.

Asking him to cover all that ground isn't working, teams exploit the space he leaves when he supports the attack. We all know that is a problem and even when he's in position he isn't aggressive enough.

And I'll bet that the Boss knows Trent CAN play midfield it's just that he thinks Trent is better left where he is. Pointless debate because Trent can play midfield.

      Arrivederci..!!..

Interested to see Klopp selection, between poor form and keeping the legs fresh. Personally would love to see a few changes to send message to players they are not locks to start but you can only sit out so many players ;D.

      Gomez-----Matip---VvD------Tsimikas
      ---------Elliott---Hendo---Thiago------

Well if he's not going to move Trent then we will have futher problems with defending the space in behind. Matip has to come across, Elliott doesn't supply much cover. See him coming back when their attack in on the edge of the box. Hendo doesn't have the legs.

With Mo off blob and Nunez stalled, we turn turn to Bobby. Jota still not fit but the press isn't as intense, off the ball we are part timers. Used to be one of our strengths but look at Brighton's third goal..no pressure on any of them.

Should be OK tonight but it won't cut it against Arsenal or City. And we can't give that Haarland kid that much space..he'll think it's Christmas come early.

Yeah be surprised if it is close tonight. Rangers don't need to defend that well in their league. Different story in the CL...7-0 down which could reach double figures later on. Might not be again great changes but like most I'd like to see Nunez get a start.

Still always positvie before a game a good win tonight and Arsenal at the weekend and we will be ready for  Haaland UTD.
