Well, much improved first half. Poor second half. Negative subs didn’t help. Hopefully something to build on.

They turned up the tempo in the second half and we couldn’t cope.

Yep . Younger more agile team. braver and wanted it more to me . Too many players off it really Salah, Thiago, Matip ,Trent ,Jota for the majority just look like strangers

Our already lacklustre midfield got another year older and a few hit that age ceiling hard after a long, hard season. The lack of investment in younger midfielders is now hurting us. It's the engine room and if it isn't working the attack and defence can't work too.

Simple tactics from opposition managers just outrun the grand dads and they can’t compete!

What? You mean you don't like Jordan Kinkladze on the right wing?

      Hahaha!

Understood taking Salah off, but yeah that one didn't exactly inspire confidence.

Subbing off Trent and Salah was brilliant.

Fingers crossed Klopp has finally realised these two do not deserve to play.

What the hell was that second half we have just watched? That was disgraceful from a Liverpool team. To me it looked either like damage limitation with Klopp’s subs or he is making a point to the owners. Why put Henderson is Salah’s position for 30 mins? It’s absolutely heartbreaking watching this, the lack of investment in the last three seasons in genuine world class players is costing us. Time to stop picking up potential or bargains and invest in proper talent.

Must surely be time to hear something from our owners now?

Shits hit the fan. Whats the plan?

      Radio silence.

They won't say anything. All part of the model.

I think I’m gonna cry now

What a sh*t show that was.

Not one of them can hold their heads up.

      Awful from top to bottom.

Fabinho cost us that point, no wonder he’s starting on the bench, says it all.

Confidence shot and City up next.

F**k me, they could hit us for 10 the way we defend.

This team missed out on a quad. Wtf has happened

Thing is we had the mentality on our side then. How could it not be when you're challenging on all front. Nothing is better for the mind and keeping us focused. But looking back, I feel there were hints of trouble. The fact that we looked so flat and uninventive in Paris was troubling. The draw against Tottenham where we squeezed a 1-1 result showed a severe lack of creativity and new thought.

And once the adrenaline of competing on all fronts right at the end was removed, with a new season and a long slog ahead, it left us naked and exposed to the issues that were there. And rather than react on it, we've given up the ghost before the season has got going. Such is football.

And the fact is, without the billions to spend like City, we can't renew and keep afresh all the time. Liverpool will only be successful in waves.

So let's try to keep this season to damage limitation. And then break the team down and begin again for next season. Use this season to identify the core players from the current squad who will take us onto the next age.
