      Maybe this then ?

Im leaving Jota out as I reckon he needs to be wrapped in cotton wool while he gets upto to full match fitness, folk forget hes hardly kicked a ball for months.

Need a fairly strong side, like the one above to see off Rangers, a potential banana skin, who could possibly but unlikely pull off a shock result. Although with Jota and Nunez in the side expect a comfortable win, by at least a couple of goals.

It will also be good to see Konate back in defence.

Carvalho in please. Didn't think this lot were any good last week so worth getting some minutes into players.

Can't say I'm excited to set foot in Ibrox.

I would rest Thiago for next Sunday.

Matip, Trent, Melo and Diaz all are out.

Start with a strong line up, nail it early on, then control it and bring on fresh legs. Don't want any drama obviously so kill it as early as possible.

Mo, Nunez,Bobby,Jota....backed up by Fabinho and Thiago..

Sounds the right combination to see off Rangers early on, a couple of early goals would be an ideal start. Bobby in good form recently !

Bobby with 6 league goals to lead the team. 350K Salah tied with Carvalho with 2 goals each. Yikes.

Seeing how poor we have been away from home I don't know what to expect. 3 points would set us up well going into the final 2 games realistically only needed a result from 1 of those games (assume Napoli beats Ajax in Italy).

As far as the lineup I would stick with the double pivot, start Konate and give Salah the night off.

      ----------------Alisson--------------
      Gomez--Konate--VvD--Tsimikas
      ----------Hendo-----Fabinho-----
      Elliott---------Firmno----------Jota
      ------------------Nunez------------

Whatever the lineup its going to be interesting. I dont see Bobby on the bench. I think he's gonna start. Probably something with Bobby-Jota-Elliot and Nunez. Salah probably coming off the bench late.
      Backline Gomez-Konate-VVD-Tsimikas
      and probably Thiago-Fab/Hendo?

Listen. Its not our year. Were certainly fighting for top 4. Injuries are killing us and we seem to have the "Yips". Which is a Baseball term. Meaning we got something mental getting in our way. Dont know the answer but the tendency of giving up these early, stupid goals is textbook "Yips".

I always thought the yips was a wrist issue? Just that it is common in golf (putting).

I just thought it was putting, but maybe it is more technical than that.

Its Baseball too. NY Yankees had a player called Chuck Knoblauch who played 2nd base. Out of nowhere, he couldn't make a throw to 1st base. Every time the ball was hit to him he couldn't throw it to first base. He would miss the 1st baseman every time. He was one of the best players in Baseball. Multiple All-Star, Gold Glove winner. He never recovered. He retired a few years later. He eventually played LF but his career was over. One day he was fine. The next he couldn't throw 60ft.

Important 3 points, would take a chunk of pressure off for the remaining CL games.
Would expect 2 from Fab/Hendo/Thiago,  with maybe Elliot or Carnvahlo.

                     Ally
      Gomez  Konate  VVD  Kostas
           Elliot  Fab Hendo
        Salah  Jota Nunez

With Diaz out, reckon Nunez might be better coming in off the left with Jota or Bob through the middle.

I'd flip nunez and Jota there. He's a striker. I like Jota through the middle but without Diaz he needs to play left.

It's Bob or Darwin upfront. Bob has done OK and Nunez gave them problems last week. Upto Jürgen there.

I'd go fab thiago and hendo in midfield.

      Must not lose this game.

Much bigger game than Sunday this, defeat leaves us with a tricky job away at Ajax and home to Napoli who look the best in the group by some distance. Rangers will be a totally different tomorrow with the crowd behind them so important we start well and don't find ourselves chasing the game early again.

Alisson; Gomez, Konate, VVD, Tsimikas; Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Firmino, Jota; Nunez.

And on VAR the wonderful Mr England again after his stunning work against us v the Arse. Can only hope he's a home VAR ref. Was lovely to read that the arsenals first goal might have been offside in the build up but sako apparently wasn't picked up by the camera's, you can't make this stuff up!

The next he couldn't throw 60ft.

      wow. thats nuts.

      Learn something everyday. :)

Anything less is unthinkable really. We created alot against them last week. If we can be more clinical tonight and do our jobs elsewhere we will be OK. Expecting Rangers to really go at us first 5/10 minutes

This will be a tougher game than the home game.

Still expecting us to squeeze a win but it'll be more nervy than we would hope I fear.

Fancy Nunez to score tonight, their  'keeper surely cannot play another blinder. Jota and Bobby may fancy their chances, before Sunday's epic against City.

Anyhow gone for a 3  0 win in the prediction league !

      Simply hope no more injuries.

Joe Gomez looked good when he came on. Is he more settled at right back than in the centre. Right back defending is a bit more defined in a way and that I think helps Joe with his decision making. So with Trent on the sick and Konate back that side should be strong enough and we will hopefully see better defending than of late.

I'm hoping a couple of weeks out will be good for trent. Will it make him a better defender? No. But hopefully he can get his head straight  and come back brighter. I think Joe will do a steady job .... which is what we need right now.

We'll win which is great but also annoyingly it will give us false hope going into the weekend game... which I am dreading more than I have ever dreaded anything... supporting this club can be torturous in the emotions.

      2-0 win tonight.

One thing is clear -- we need to pick a formation and tactical setup and stick to it.  If 4-2-3-1 is the intended plan to move forward (and I think it likely is), then he needs to pick the players we have available based on the long-term plan.  With that said, I think there are a couple of options here.

      1.  Fabio comes in for Diaz and plays on the left with Jota as the #10
      2.  Same as above, but Fabio plays the #10 and Jota pushes to LW/LF
      3.  Harvey comes in for Diaz and plays the #10 with Jota shifting to LW/LF (I'm betting on this one)

At the back, it has to be Gomez for Trent.

      Ali
      Gomez - Matip - VVD - Tsimi
      Fab - Thiago
      Mo - Harvey - Jota
      Nunez

Matip injured mate. I'm not a fan of the 4231.

Rather a 4-2-1-3 with thiago slightly advanced of fab/hendo or a 433. Nunez or Bob between salah and Jota.

I guess we will see tonight eh 😀
