Trent Alexander-Arnold returns to the starting line-up at Amex Stadium, replacing James Milner in the only alteration made to the side deployed against Chelsea last weekend.

I hope this is a 4-1-3-2. Not that I'm partial to that formation, but I'd rather see Elliott I'm midfield than at forward. This would also serve to make it.harder for Brighton to slalom through us like last time.

Not sure what is up with Nunez.

Strong team but no idea why Gakpo gets the nod ahead of Nunez.

Not sure why Elliott is starting over nunez. If he wants to play Elliott on the front 3 instead of midfield it's all the more baffling why we haven't bought a midfielder in January.

Nunez should be playing today. They'll be very happy he's parked on the bench. Nice of us to do what tye opposition would want us to do.

Overall though bar nunez pretty much the team I'd have picked. But Milner in at right back for me so we're actually playing with a actual back 4.

These gave us a predictable hiding a few weeks back. Let's see how we do today. Not ready to give this trophy up yet so hopefully a morale boosting win with a clean sheet.

Nunez had a hamstring injury so maybe just taking precautions if he’s still not 100%. Can’t afford to be losing him as well as having Firmino, Jota and Diaz all missing too.

Hope it's not some sort of cotton wool job. If he has dodgy hamstrings it's going to be an issue for the foreseeable.

Perhaps Elliot is in midfield, and Jurgens gone for 4:4:2.

Only reason I can think why Elliot would be playing in a front three over Nunez 🤷‍♂️

Due to a mixture of father time, injury and recruitment we find ourselves with a team unable to counter at speed or to press the ball for sustained periods of time.

It's a real period of transition for the club, but we need to fix all of those issues. Squad age needs to come down, mobility and intensity needs to increase.

I guess we will see more of the back to basics from us today with Brighton taking the game to us and us aiming to feed off scraps and potentially earn a replay.

Looking at all of the players warming up I still believe that they have the talent and heart to compete. It’s time to show it reds
