Trent Alexander-Arnold and Thiago Alcantara fitness latest

Trent Alexander-Arnold has resumed training as he continues to make progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury.

The vice-captain has not figured since Liverpool’s win over Aston Villa on September 3 but is closing in on a return to action after joining his teammates in their session on Monday.

Pepijn Lijnders told Liverpoolfc.com: “Trent trained yesterday with us but it was just in the rondo and the ball possession with the counter-pressing, but he was outstanding.

“You see him instantly, of course. He is with the team training, I am not sure if he will be ready, we will see today.

“But then if we speak about Trent we have to make a compliment to Joe Gomez because the way he played the role, played the role in his way but still being able to come inside as well, was just incredible. His level and attitude, just a big compliment to him because you are replacing one of the best full-backs in the world.

“He did really, really well. That’s good and shows a lot about our squad as well, that we can have that."

Liverpool’s only other injury concern at the moment is Thiago Alcantara, with Lijnders adding: “He is in a good way, the healing process is going well so that’s the most important [thing] at this moment.”

I would play like this and rotate some players but keep a back-up with a strong bench.
      NB: Team no longer available

I reckon Bajcetic probably gets another run out at RB and Gravenberch takes the LM position.

Should be a decent kick about. Hopefully Doak starts.Plenty of hype surrounding him. As clubs go I respect Leicester.Pity they got relegated. Probably another one off line up, so expect a bit of a disjointed start as we grow into the game. Early on we will be suspect to their counter attacks.

Elliott might be our match winner. He has come on this season and he would benefit from a run in the side, got a bit to do before he gets that but he's looking much stronger.

Just don't make to many changes, the youngsters who haven't played a lot together will find them selves up against seasoned pros.
They are all good players or they wouldn't be with us, but the mental awareness in a game takes time to develop. Don't over load them with expectation, give them plenty of support from a few senior players.

If there are going to be 2 - 3 games per week then plenty of changes will be necessary.

Have to do these boys as we’re at home!

Remember when we lost to wolves in the FA Cup, they were in the championship and were far superior.

2017 I think. Can’t let that happen again.

Yes I agree, but maybe not so many, and rotate the senior players every cup game, so the same ones don’t start.
