Trent Alexander-Arnold and Thiago Alcantara fitness latest

Trent Alexander-Arnold has resumed training as he continues to make progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury.

The vice-captain has not figured since Liverpool’s win over Aston Villa on September 3 but is closing in on a return to action after joining his teammates in their session on Monday.

Pepijn Lijnders told Liverpoolfc.com: “Trent trained yesterday with us but it was just in the rondo and the ball possession with the counter-pressing, but he was outstanding.

“You see him instantly, of course. He is with the team training, I am not sure if he will be ready, we will see today.

“But then if we speak about Trent we have to make a compliment to Joe Gomez because the way he played the role, played the role in his way but still being able to come inside as well, was just incredible. His level and attitude, just a big compliment to him because you are replacing one of the best full-backs in the world.

“He did really, really well. That’s good and shows a lot about our squad as well, that we can have that."

Liverpool’s only other injury concern at the moment is Thiago Alcantara, with Lijnders adding: “He is in a good way, the healing process is going well so that’s the most important [thing] at this moment.”

I would play like this and rotate some players but keep a back-up with a strong bench.

I will watch it on BET365, not the best quality but at least, I will be watching it. In Malta, through TSN, we watch everything (Eng, Italy, Spain, Germany, UCL, UEL) except EFL Cup.

That would be my team also. Only possible adjustment might be to play Elliot inside right with Gravenburch getting a start and Doak on the bench.

This is the team I'd go with. Decent experience spread throughout the team, and minutes into legs that need them...

Good shout. But it'll be a tough game Leicester have started well.  Wouldn't be surprised at pens to sort it out but I'll go..1-0.

This is my team as well. I thought maybe we'd see some U21s like Chambers, Clark or  McConnell on the bench, but I guess they are playing in the U21 International cup against Monaco, so probably not. I liked Ljinders comments today in the presser about making sure players like Doak and Bajcetic are getting enough game time for the sake of their development.

The  Leicester manager Enzo said he will be rotating his team as well, as you would expect because for them getting back to the Prem has to be their one and only priority for this season.

Id prefer to see a strong starting 11. Get it won then get the fringe players on. The big guns will need consistency prior to the spuds game. First 45 for them would be good. Not sure 11 changes will see us through, as to many not having played together often enough.
Bottom line is, are we going out to win it, or are we just content to give fringe players minutes ?

      I'm hoping for a strongish starting 11 as I've gone for 3-0

Probably a weakened team fielded, for tonight's game against Leicester. Anyhow going for a 2  0 win for the Reds.
