I just don't buy the corrupt element too much. I think it gives them a bit too much credit.

Like I said earlier the explanation is he thought a goal had been given, checked the replay and could see he was onside without the need for the lines and said check complete.

Another  problem is the process. Check complete doesn't mean anything really. Just say allow goal or disallow goal and this sorry sorry mess wouldn't have happened.
Exactly...The mistake is down to the opaque language used. Having said that, once the goal wasn't given VAR should have alerted the ref about the misunderstanding....even if the game had restarted.

If the stories are true about the confusion around the on field decision.

Once it’s been disallowed and the VAR realised, is he not in the refs ear saying it’s a F**k up and finding a solution? You immediately could, the only reason to not do that is because if the controversy it will cause but at least you can hold your hands up and say you corrected the error.

      Complete farce

Diaz scores, turns round to see Ass.Ref flag for offside. Clearly a close call. England simply does the check..he's done it numerous times, also had VAR checks as a ref out there. If he says to Ref "check complete"....then that is confirmation that the check has been done and the on field decision of offside stands. The game was restarted with a free kick for Spurs. They did not restart from the center circle as if a goal is scored.

There can hardly be any other explanation..."Check complete"...means VAR checked the offside and the on field decision stands.

Why aren't we following the rugby way, everything transparent talk through the reasoning so everybody knows. In my head I've got an image of Homer eating a donut watching a screen that isn't even the game

Its utter BS and they're trying to make it look like they didn't make an error and it was a misscommunication. You just can't make this BS up.

You can make it up , and they just have

Imagine a boxing ring with 2 referees!

A boxing match has 3 referees scoring it. And they still F**k up because they are human. Offsides should be automated just as goalline tech is. They have the capacity to do it but clubs voted against it.

The match should be replayed. Simple as.

Plenty of precedents in European Football.

The laws of the game were not applied correctly.

„… and lose and start again at your beginnings and never breathe a word about your loss

We need to move onto Brighton. It was not even a disastrous loss because we didnt lose points towards the PL leader.

Yeah but what about Darren England and Simon Hooper??

Moving the argument onto the technology lets the humans at the centre of it get away scot free.

Sack them all and get people in to get it right. Can’t go on like this, too much exposure and even Gary Neville on our side

Amazing that the day City finally lose we get absolutely sh*t on by refs. I’m not one for conspiracy theories but I’ll be damned if this doesn’t smell pretty bad.

The VAR room has so many monitors to see the actions in the field.  They can clarify right when the ref raised his hand for the off side kick.  I would say this is no mistake but someone's intention.

Disagree JD, if retrospective red card can be given then so too should be a goal, Liverpool should be awarded a point as the more realistical result would have been 2-2,

think most would accept that rather than coming away with nothing, we all know this will happen again because the laws of the game won’t be applied,

The “rules” of football should be the same globally as too should the officiating, and we’d have no need for the PGMOL their the problem not VAR, the PGMOL did NOT apply the laws properly!!
