      Pre-Match: Liverpool v Union S-G Thurs 5th October 2023 20:00KO GMT
      Oct 01, 2023 10:40:42 am
A home tie against Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise awaits us in the Europa League on Thursday.

Our opponents current sit 3rd after 8 games in the Belgian Pro League behind KAA Gent and Anderlecht. Winning their last 2 league games. They play 14th placed Sporting De Charleroi at 12:30pm GMT today.

Notable playerā€™s in their current squad include the brother of very our Alexis Mac Allister - Kevin Mac Allister, who is a 26 year old defender. For those who follow the lower leagues, they also have 6ft 5 former Portsmouth defender Christian Burgess in their ranks, who is likely to start alongside Mac Allister as part of a back 3 at Anfield. This game is likely to be Burgessā€™s 100th game for the club.

Their current top scorer Dennis Eckert Ayensa, who has 7 goals in all competitions this season, is an injury doubt for this game, meaning we are likely to come up against Algerian striker Mohamed Amoura, who has 4 goals so far this season.

U S-G drew their first Europa League group game against French side Toulouse, going behind to a penalty just before half time. U S-G equalised in the 69th minute through Amoura, who mentioned above is likely to pose the biggest threat to our back line.

With regard to the line up for this game, both Jones and Jota are available as the suspensions from receiving red cards against Tottenham do not come into play in this tournament. Iā€™m expecting a mixture of first teamers/squad players to start here. Iā€™m also assuming Gakpo is injured and out for the foreseeable future:

      Kelleher

      Alexander-Arnold
      Konate
      Van Dijk (c)
      Tsimikas

      Elliott
      Endo
      Gravenberch

      Salah
      Nunez
      Diaz

      Subs:

      Alisson (GK)
      Adrian (GK)
      Gomez
      Matip
      Quansah
      Robertson
      Szoboszlai
      Mac Allister
      Jones
      Bajcetic
      Jota
      Doak

      Injured:

      Bradley
      Thiago
      Gakpo

After the frustration against Spurs I can see us thumping them here, I just have a feeling.

      6-0 to the Reds  :kop5cf8koxp6:

Struggling to get excited for this one after the debacle at the weekend.

Jones nailed on to start though I would say otherwise he'll be going weeks without a game.

      NB: Team no longer available

This is my team. Jota and Jones since both suspended, I would definitely play them. I would rest Dominik and Alexis.

I would enter Trent at around the 60th minute but I think that Klopp will start him and sub him out at around the same time.

      Time to move onā€¦..

Think JĆ¼rgen will mix it up againā€¦..something perhaps like thusā€¦..

                                     Kelleher
                 Trent(c)   Gomez   Quansah   Kostas
                                        Endo
                      Gravenberch.      Curtis  Jones
                                       Elliot
                                Nunez      Jota

Bench; Alisson, Konate, Virgil, Robbo, Szloboslai, Macca, Salah, Doak, Bacjetic, Molby

Any f**kerā€™s guess just how many we will bag tbh, Union SG never heard of them, but they will have heard of us, and will be f***in bricking it, so letā€™s take it to them and give them a night they will never ever forgetā€¦. We can all imagine rattling in about six or seven but Iā€™d be just as happy with 2 or 3 niller, this will be a different mindset to Sunday so we can all forget ā€œgetting our own backā€, this will be about getting another win and rebuilding momentum, and if we do manage to hammer in a few goals so be it and all the better for it, we have a much tougher opponent in Brighton on the horizon so pleeeeeeeeeeease no more injurieeeeeeeeeees !!!

      8-0 🤪 Mighty Redmen!!!
