      Pre-Match: Liverpool v Brentford (12 Nov 2pm GMT)
      Nov 11, 2023 12:02:47 pm
Final game before the international break.

Lost away 3-1 and won at home 1-0 last season against these.

Usual suspects missing.  Gravenberch (knee) and van Dijk (illness) both missed midweek game - might see Virgil back.  Alexis Mac Allister suspended for his 5th yellow card so could see Elliott and Endo both play.

Doesn't look like a weekend where Arsenal, Spurs or City are going to drop points so neither should we!

Hopefully Luis Diaz is back to his best because clearly his mind was elsewhere on Thursday night.

Hopefully being at home may make ghe difference, but I’m not over confident with this after our last two outings.
As good as we are going forwards, that high line is really worrying me at the back.
We need to adapt somehow to cover that as it’s clear we won’t always score more than the opposition.
We also have issues with injuries and suspensions to cover and so far in that department we haven’t covered ourselves in glory.
Have to hope Jürgen puts out the strongest side possible and possibly tweak the tactic.
Gone for 2-0 but wont be putting any dosh on that!

Grav has a very minor niggle apparently. That's why he didn't play midweek so have to wait and see. Minor niggles at Liverpool are usually 6 weeks minimum. See if he's spotted when the pre match training photos come out. But he won't be starting I wouldn't have thought as Jürgen likes 3 training sessions to be considered.

I'd imagine endo dom and jones in midfield. Jota, Gakpo and Salah up front ... though I guess Diaz could go left and Jota through the middle.

Pretty nervous for this one with the team we will end up having to put out. LB and DM look like real weak areas for us right now.

Elliot for G’Berch if he fails the fitness test, a test of our metal V Brentford, Thomas Frank is a very astute manager and will have his charges primed for the counter attack, he’ll target both fullbacks with Joe in unfamiliar territory and if Trent inverts inside midfield, however, our focus should be on how many chances we can create and hopefully enhance the goals for columns, I feel a rocket from Klopp after the mid week debacle in Le France and envisage a more effective performance against the ‘Bees’, with no Stings attached !! 🤪

Can't quite see us keeping a clean sheet....Mbeumo and Wissa are a handful. IF we can bring our A' game and play to our potential then I think we get the 3 points..just....and that's a big IF.

Jota has done well recently and must be pushing for a start but he's better centrally. That brings Nunez place under pressure. Might go:

      Ali - Trent,Konate,VVD,Kostas -  Endo,Dom,Elliott - Mo, Nunez or Jota, Diaz. Or

      Ali - Konate,VVD,Joe - Trent,Endo - Dom,Elliott - Mo,Nunez or Jota,Diaz

      2-0.

Just shows you how it can change quick - 2 wins on the bounce is actually quite hard to do and makes all the difference (except city where it’s a common occurrence)

United are going to hang around 3-6th all season like a bad spawny smell.

At the end of the day ... you've got city and arsenal and then there's not alot of difference between us spurs united Newcastle Brighton etc. As bad as united are ... they're right there and they arnt going anywhere and it seems like there will be plenty to spend in January and the summer.

I wouldn’t worry to much, it’s just a false reading and the gap is much bigger than what it looks like on paper. However, I still stand by what I’ve said previously! Your scoring points well but not necessarily playing well. The gap to city is bigger than what many think.

      Look up, not down.

Win tomorrow and we are on same number of points as City and Arsenal. If we score enough goals and City lose against Chelsea (unlikely, I know) we could be top of league for the international break.

I think Trent needs to go back to RB for this. We miss the service he creates from the wing. Probably his service from the right, more than we gain from him being in the middle.
I also think Nunez should start as he won’t let their defenders settle on the ball, and that’s where we need to start the press otherwise I fear we’ll fail to break them down.
That’s when the game slows down and the moment we lose possession is when we’ll be back peddling against a counter.

We’re better than them, we’ve got better players than them.  Let’s play to our strengths,  and not give them any incentives.
After a couple of todays results we need to take advantage. Let’s get it done.

If Grav is out, while that would be bad in itself, cos I like the start he's made, it does mean that Harvey can come in and give us some width down the right. I think that has been something we are missing. Mo likes to come inside, as we know, even more so as he gets older. And with Trent tucking in, it is really only when Harvey comes on that we actually have somebody going out and using the space out wide (and there is usually plenty of it, with Mo dragging the LB inside).

Against Luton there was acres of space on the right and we never used it til Harvey came on. So, while Grav himself would be a miss, Harvey could give us some of the width we are foregoing with the Trent false RB experiment.

An important game tomorrow to win as it will give us confidence over the international break to come back for the citeh game which will be mega.

Bit stretched with the squad but we should be too strong for them at home as long as we concentrate and not become sloppy.

Diaz, Jota and Nunez to fight for two places. I would not put Gakpo near the starting XI. I do not know what many of you see in him.

After the last couple results against ‘poorer’ opposition this is a must win for me, for the players confidence and the fans confidence.

And it’s going to be a tough one, another team here that raises their game against us.
