I don't see what the problem is with Murray, he's a young tennis player who is @ the peak of his game and is British regardless of what country that makes he British.  I think he has had an excellent year and beating Nadal in a grand slam tournament proves that he's destined for bigger, better things. 

If he plays Federer the way he played Nadal yesterday then I have no doubt he will win with ease, some of them return serves ended up in areas not even Nadal could reach and this was the first match that I have seen Nadal look like a wounded soldier he just didn't know what to do next as no one has really pushed him that far before.

Come on Murray do us proud!

I would have supported him but he said, "I'll support whoever England play." or something like that when England qualified for WC 06 and Scotland didn't.

If he wants to be the stereotypical English-hating, whinging Scotsman - then, as an Englishman, I say F*ck him.

Fair enough.  Your opinion isn't transmitted all over the world though and you probably don't care whether or not 'the English' want you to do well.

I stopped caring about the England team a long time ago - they appoint too many idiots to run the team and the FA (like giving your grandma the keys to your Ferrari).

While it's true to say I would support any team that played against Manure, I certainly wouldn't expect any less from them.  The same should apply to Murray - if he can't support England why should they support him?

That comment by Murray was meant as a joke, he has a very dry sense of humour and to be honest he was spot on. Ask any of the Welsh, Scottish or Irish that are on this furom would they want England to win - the majority whether joking or not would say no! FACT!!

I hope someone pi**es in his Robinson barley water! I'm not being funny but nationality doesn't come into it for me and even if he was English I would still dislike the po faced Brillo pad headed sideshow bob lookalike.

A more miserable sportsman I have yet to see now whilst I dont want him to do juggling tricks and crack jokes he could at least look like he enjoys his sport! having Scottish blood in my family means its not his nationality that I dislike him for just his face like he's won a season ticket for the Bullens road at Goodison.

I'm not a massive tennis fan, and not overly bothered whether Murray wins a grand slam or gets beat in the first round but disliking somebody because they don't want England to win in footy is a bit extreme. I don't want Scotland, Wales, Ireland, N.Ireland or any other nation to win at footy, I'm an England fan and want England to win.

I think with Murray's recent successes, especially those ones on the telly, it'll inspire more and more youngsters to take up tennis. Hopefully it'll inspire more kids from rough cities like Liverpool to take up the sport of tennis which has by and large always been a posh man's sport. You don't get many people from Lodge Lane playing tennis, maybe a Brit doing well might just give them that bit of encouragement. It happened in cricket in 05 with the Ashes, a lot of people started to enjoy cricket because of that and have went on to play cricket a lot more. This year's Olympics again has caused a big rush for youngsters to want to be the next Chris Hoy or Becky Addlington or Christina Oragoo (not spelt right) or Phillips Odowu (don't think it's spelt right) so overall I think Murray doing well means that more kids throughout Britain will want to emulate him, so instead of us slagging him off because he'd rather be Scottish than British, try getting behind him and encourage the next generation that they can be as good as him.

Federer is just one all-round brilliant tennis player. Not much of a tennis fan but don't mind watching Federer.
