AC Milan are out!

After a pretty dull game Arsenal came up trumps with the vital goals that have knocked out the current holders.  Goals from Fabergas and Adebeyor ensured Arsenal make their way through to that later stages but with AC Milan out this rules out the potential big threat in this years champions league competition.

Just seen that too AJ.   Don't know whether that's good or bad...I just know we're going to get them in the next round though, once we beat Inter.

I wouldnt say that they were a big threat this year, they were terrible in both those games arsenal should have won about 6-0 on aggregate.

Why don't we look forward to playing them AFTER we dispose of Inter... eh?

The penalty he missed was terrible aswell so close to the centre of the goal. Thats only the second ive seen him take but he seems to take them strangely.

He is a player we should look to invest in when the summer comes. I've watched a few highlights of La Liga this season and he has been involved in a lot of their attacks and goals, his cross is nearly perfect and he can beat a player or two. Though I'd use him as an overlapping right back and not as a right winger.

I beg to differ watching Milan and Arsenal last most of the game was really dull, unimaginative football (except for maybe that sweet cross from Walcott at the end that set up Adebeyor)and I think Milan were just expecting to get beaten earlier .  This is the champions league and we beat anyone and over the last few years I feel AC Milan have become somewhat of our Nemesis team and with them out I feel this is a great chance.  So ok they looked average last night and maybe they were waiting for a bit of luck in a shoot out but Inter have been playing sh*t hot this season and we beat them 2-0!

I think Rafa believes if he does well in just the champions league he will have the league and domestic cups overlooked.  Well Rafa I would like you to prove me wrong.

I agree with you on that one! They are the one team I wouldn't want to come up against, because the matches against them are just too unpredictable! I fancy us against any of the other European teams, but versus AC Milan it's a different story - it isn't just a match between two teams, it's a match of two great European histories! There's so much pride at stake, it's almost like a European derby match!

Indeed and both teams have strong passion for the competition and won't let their guard down easily.  With AC Milan out I think we can have a good run at it now.

What a result for Arsenal nice one i hope man utd get Barca in the next round so 1 of them go out,not to bothered who we play we fear nobody.

Dull football?? Did you just cast ayour eye on the game or watch the entire game, it was a bloody frantic and exciting game to watch. Arsenal were superb the only thing that made it dull was the second half Ancellotti tactics to play chicken sh*t football and drop 9 players in front of your box and defend hoping that Kaka would go solo. I hate the way that Italian's play gutless football well hopefully we knock outg Inter and that would be the last of the frogs for this year.

I wish we went in for that guy Pato a while back....

He's only 18 years old and he was causing problems for arsenal. He's got skills and pace to the extreme!

I watched the last 30mins when I got in from work and they, AC, were dreadful, passing and vision were shot to pot.

Yes I did watch most of the game and AC Milan were quite poor on all accounts and compared to the way Arsenal can play I thought they played below par too abeit until about the last 20 minutes when they knew it would be make or break.  The way the gunners tried to force their way through the middle of the aging AC Milan back four was quite predictable and I just thought they could have done better.

Arsenal deserved to win no doubt, I didn't see the Sevilla game but looks like it was THE one of the day to follow. I'm not happy  to see Arsenal through, I rather 1000 times to play AC Milan then Arsenal, the level of the Premier League is obviously much better then any other league so playing Arsenal  or any other team from the Premier League is more tricky in my opinion. We always managed to step up our game Vs European sides, and even if we did it twice vs chelsea, Arsenal or man u would be a harder tasks then Barca or others...

AC were shocking. Wish they'd played like that against us last year in the final. We would have ripped them to pieces...

No one on that field for AC looked like they wanted to be there and they misplaced passes, didn't create anything, and were outplayed on their home turf. It was pretty symbolic: a young fresh Arsenal taking apart the aging and fast dissappearing AC Milan. They're youngest players must have been Kaka and Pato, and the rest are knocking on. If I were Kaka & Pato, I'd hightail it out of there to an English club, where the money and competition really is.

Chelsea won 3-0 tonight and went through.

Roma knocked out real madrid with a 2-1 win.

I'm with Cy on this one, in recent history it's 1-1 in Champions League finals between us and I would have loved nothing better than to have knocked them out.

As for Arsenal, well they've knocked out our "nemesis" and as said before they're young and fresh. I honestly believe we will win the whole competition but if and it's a massive if,  we were to get knocked out of this competition, I'd be devasted but I'd be a little less devastated if it wasn't English oppostion that did it.
