      Roman Pavlyuchenko (Spartak Moscow)
      Jun 21, 2008 09:52:34 pm
After watching him today for Russia against Holland, he has a load of potential, good movement and a good shot.

He's a similiar player to Torres, a tall player (6ft 2) and has decent speed.

I was just wondering if anyone new how much he would cost and if he would be a good partner for Torres!

I'm glad that someone else started a thread on this player as I couldn't remember how to spell his name   I was very impressed with him tonight, always seemed to be in the thick of the action.

      Very good Player

      Roman Pavlyuchenko
      Position Forward
      Date of Birth 15/12/1981
      Birthplace Stravropol
      Height 6' 3"
      Weight 12st 4lbs

Roman Pavlyuchenko will be well known to England supporters after coming off the substitute's bench in a Euro 2008 qualifier to score both goals for Russia in a 2-1 victory. The 26-year-old made his international debut in 2005, and will be hoping a successful Euro 2008 will eventually grant him a regular starting place in the national side. The striker has finished top scorer in the Russian Premier League for the past two seasons and since signing for Spartak Moscow from Rotor Volgograd in 2003, he has a goalscoring average of a goal nearly every two games.

That is why I hate these tourney's. You look at players who look great yet who knows how good they really are as really these are one off games.

I mean we look last Euro's if people didn't know who Baros was you would of thought he was a world class striker yet we all know he is a headless chicken out there on the pitch.

I can't take anything away from this guy, he has impressed in the games I have seen him.

Roman Pavlyuchenko is a very good player, just not sure how he would do in the prem.

ARVASHIN-the no 10 Russian has been the player of the tournament so far.
he is the best link up player i have seen for a long time.
he would fit in well playing just behind torres.

He would be the one I would like us to go for.

Would prefer us to spend money elsewhere. He probably won't come cheap considering Russia's awesome tournament so far, so why not spend that money on someone like Silva or Villa. Considering our limited funds, Rafa has to be very picky with who he goes after.

He's been good but not player of the tournament, he's only played two games. Players like iniesta, xavi, villa, podolski, ballack, sneijder and vdv have been better but he has played some amazing stuff, two games is hardly player of the tournament though.

he was very impressive last night, but we'd need to see much more of him though.  He'd definitely be a big name signing tho.

I dunno if he will get you alot of goals he doesnt seem the most natural off finishers. And after how he has done in these Euros the Russians will hoike the price off him up to a ridicalous amount whereas that money could be spent elsewhere.

Heard from many people that he scores as much as he creates. By that they meant he is wasteful. So, not sure.

there were many players that they were brilliant in their country but when they played in england they come from legends to zero, --> Sheva., mourintes, ecc.

      exactly.

england is a fast aggressive league....it often doesn't suit the slower more timid types, who need time on the ball.

I think people are forgeting 1 major factor

DAT YOU SHOULD NOT BUY PLAYERS BASED ONE 1 MAJOR TOURNAMENT

have our fans already 4got the mistakes of Diouf and Diao, ( based on the 2002 WC) and Le Tallec/Pongolle (based on the under18 euro2000)

arshivan may have proved to be a gud player on more of a consistant basis for St petersburg this season, especially in the Ufea Cup but Pavlvyuchenko still has alot 2 prove in my opinion

Get him in. He's the player crouch wishes he was. This is not just based on one tournament. Lets not forget he sunk the mighty England in Russia. This lad has bags of talent and given the right club and system he would shine. We could grab him for 6-7 m and that would solve the striker problem because if nando gets injured I dont know where the goals will come from. He's definatly worth the investment. Go on Rafa dont be scared. You can say its only one tournament but it only took one tournament for Aguero to shine his talents. Everyone has to start somewhere and IMO pavy( cant spell it ;D ) has started here. He's definatly one to bag!

I don't understand all the fuss about him, I thought he did ok  during the euros but definately didn't shine in my eye. Good at holding up the ball and getting into positions but seemed to waste a lot of good opportunities, what Torres showed us last season is that we need someone who'll put the ball in the net with most opportunities. Pavlyuchenko doesn't look like a 20+ goals a season striker which is exactly what we need when you consider how difficult it will be for Torres to replicate last season's figures

      Pavlyuchenko signs for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement to sign Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko from Spartak Moscow.

The 26-year-old arrives at White Hart Lane for a reported fee of £12m.

Pavlyuchenko, who had already confirmed the deal was "practically settled" earlier in the week, was Russia's top scorer at Euro 2008.

He scored three goals as they reached the semi-finals, and also netted twice in a 2-1 win over England in a qualifying match in October 2007.

"Everything has happened very quickly so I could not even say goodbye to my team-mates," Pavlyuchenko said before leaving Russia to sign his contract in London.

"I could not decide if I wanted to go to England at first - first yes, then no," he added.

"The only thing that stopped me from leaving was my family. But now all doubts are behind me and I decided to sign a contract with Tottenham."

Spurs have been searching for a striker as a replacement for Robbie Keane, who joined Liverpool for £20.3m this summer, while Dimitar Berbatov looks set to leave the club before the end of the current transfer window on 1 September.

The Bulgaria striker has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.
