The Robbie Keane LFC player thread is about to draw to close.

Such a shame he never quite managed to reach the dizzy height's which Gareth Barry's topic did.  :f_whistle:

Fee's agreed.  He's just got to pass that medical now with his dodgy knee.

The last time Keane was at Spurs all the Tottenham fans booed him all game.

      It's a funny old game.

But now where does our cover come from . . . . . N'gog and El Zhar, 'cos we know Benitez wont call on any of our promising young reserves.

We are now short of quality. I just hope Nando and SG don't pick up injuries.

      Nice move Liverpool.

As JD said earlier in this thread I don't think Keane is cover though. Our formation is by and large one up top, whether Torres is fit or not. Now if Torres gets injured again (fingers crossed he doesn't) we're still gonna be playing with one up top. Robbie Keane can't play up top on his own to any successful level which is why he hasn't been good enough in a Liverpool shirt.

I still think he's a very good player and I expect him to show that quality back at Spurs, but at Liverpool with our current formation Robbie Keane is neither a starter nor good enough cover and we shouldn't be rearranging our entire side to fit him in.

As for other players not being good enough, yes that's a fact but we can't just tell players to f**k off if other clubs aren't prepared to take them off our hands.

What quality? Robbie isnt quality! He cant lead the line and thats what we need. Maybe Ryan will be given the go ahead should anything happen to Fernando.

      Are you feeling alright????

You are quite happy to put out an inferior side against Everton. What kind of Liverpool Fan are you?

We have to give ourselves a chance of silverware in all competitions we are still involved in and by playing SG and Nando, we would be keeping the momentum going. And if we did go on to win the F A Cup, it would be lovely to say we beat the Toffees on the way to Wembley.

What kind of fan.... as far as I can see I'm one who is a hell of alot smarter than you sir. You need to get your priories set out. Thinking with the head always prevails over the heart, always

      Cover. Cover. Cover.

      Replacement. Replacement. Replacement.

Sick to the back teeth of hearing it now.

We play 4-5-1.  Keane can't play in that system.  If Torres was injured it is unlikely Keane would get the nod anyway.  It would probably be Kuyt.

El Zhar came through our youth side, was promising at that level, showed good quality in his cameo performances at the start of the season. Ngog, well I'm not convinced with him, but then again I haven't been with Keane either.

We are now short of quality. I just hope Nando and SG don't pick up injuries.

Well Keane hasn't excatly excelled here. And if Torres is fit Keane will only make the bench, which I'm sure he won't want.

Considering the money Keane will be (minimum 50k a week) it's not a bad move for Liverpool. He's only gonna be a bench player while Torres is fit.

It got extended to the first mate because the 31.1.09 was a Sunday and deals very rarely get done on Sunday. I think the same happened in the Summer, the deadline got pushed back to September the first for the same reason.

Also deals can go beyond the 5pm deadline if deals have been agreed in principle and it's the bad weather (snowing up and down the country) that's prevented the deal going ahead. That shouldn't worry us though as Keane is already in London having a medical.
