      Parliament Jokers

Parliament Jokers in red, yellow and blue
And do they really represent me and you?
      Brown, Prescott, Campbell and Hague
Blair or Thatcher, I'd prefer the plague

      All those Parliament Jokers
Arguing in the House of Commons
      Making us all pay taxes
      For more pointless pathetic bombings

Taking us to wars we don't need to fight
No fighting was as clear as broad daylight
We can't say no to any of the yanks
So we supply them with our men and tanks

Hospitals should be first on their list
But the hospitals needs are missed
Lets make laws that don't apply to us
And then let Britain just make a fuss

Parliament Jokers feeding the public lies
And then they wonder what caused their demise
All their promises fail to deliver again
Yet the public elects them once again.

      I've Had Enough

      There's only so much
      A man can take
      Before his tollerance
      Begins to break
      And I've had enough

      I've had enough
      Of the school rules
      I'm past trying
      To impress these fools

      I've had enough
      Of religion
      I'm past reading
      It's contradiction

      I've had enough
      Of the boy-band sound
      I'm past caring
      If Take That drown
      --------------------------------------------------

      Thank You

Thank you Maggie for what you've done
You gave every workingman the redundacy gun
But you don't care cos the Tory's won

Thank you teacher for what you did
You made school life hell for every kid
But you don't care cos a teacher's faults are hid

Thank you God for what you do
You make more and more people turn their back on you
But you don't care cos you're not even true

Thank you family for the pain you bring
Don't invole me in any of your slagging
But you don't care cos I don't mean a thing

Thank you friends for the laughs we had
It was the same old joke and it drove me mad
But you don't care cos I'm a different lad

Thank you disease for the deaths you inflict
You hurt the whole world with just one flick
      But you don't care cos you're a heartless pr**k
      ------------------------------------------------------------------

      He Wasn't A Prince

I've seen you walking around town
I've seen you walking through the city
I've seen you in the pubs and clubs
I've seen you looking ever so pretty

      But you didn't even glance
At the one who asked to dance
      With you

Because he didn't fit the bill
      And he never ever will
      To you

      I've seen you running away
I've seen you running for home
With your head in the dumps
      Because you're running alone

Becuase you wouldn't give your number
And now you're left to lumber
      All alone

      Becuase he made you quince
      Because he wasn't a prince
      With a mansion home
      ------------------------------------------------------------

      Liverpool Prostitutes

      I've seen better looking mutts
Than all the Lime Street sluts
I want them all in wooden bags
All those F***ing Hope Street slags
I don't wanna see them no mores
      Those dirty Princess Road whores
      I hope somebody shoots
The last of the Liverpool prostitutes
      -----------------------------------------------------

      Real Tears

When you left for us another place
I saw real tears come down her face
She cried and cried over you
The tears poured out and they were true

      When the celebrating began
I saw real tears from my old man
      We whitnessed the day together
We wouldn't of moved in any weather

When you two argued over the phone
I saw real tears but she wan't alone
I tried to comfort her on the bed
But she was so hurt inside her head

When you were born little nephew
I cried real tears over and for you
I did it in my own time on my own
      I'm an uncle and there's no-one I haven't told
      ------------------------------------------------------------------

Pride And Joy (dedicated to me nephew Luke, who's already sayin Torres, he's only 2 as well :) )

      I watch you grow
      And although you don't know
You're the twinkle in my eye

I love to hold your hand
      And you won't understand
      But I hate saying goodbye

I'll keep you from the hate
And I'll always be your mate
If you ever need me just call

If you're in trouble I'll be there
You're always my number one care
      You're my nephew after all
      -----------------------------------------------------

      Stray Cannon Ball

I'm in love with a girl named Emma
      But is there anybody better?
I'm also very nice and cosy
With a girl I know called Jodie
But I still love that girl Shell
I'll love her heaven and hell
      Then there's my love Suzie
After all she does amuse me
But of course I still love Jill
Does she feel the same about Bill?
And I'm very nice and pally
With a girl I love called Ali
I can't forget that girl named Lou
She always gets a "I love you"
But I can't choose because I love you
So I'm gonna stay a stray cannon ball
      ----------------------------------------------------

      Oh This Town

Oh this town, oh this town
      Is falling all around
      To the breakpoint ground

Even when the new buildings are being put up
The dirt and the grime is still shinging through
But that's what happens in a city
Divided by the colours of red and blue

Oh this city, oh this city
Is giving pity for looking shitty
When it should look so pretty

Even with all the paintwork and the new roads
The boarded up windows are there for all to see
But you don't let it bother you when you love
Your hometown as much as me
      ---------------------------------------------------------------------

      Words Filled With Anger

I see my outlook on this world
I see the hate from boys and girls
I hear the words the kids grow up with
I hear the stories about how kids live

I see the kids with this world
      They're trying to strangle her
I hear the kids towards the world
      Their words filled with anger

People wonder why kids turn to drugs
It's all they're fed by the media thugs
People ask why kids speak so rough
It's all they hear from when they're old enough

I see the violence on the streets
I see the problems children greet
I hear the language kids are taught
I hear the things kids are told to abort

I see the kids with this world
      They're trying to strangle her
I hear the kids towards the world
      Their words filled with anger

People wonder why kids rush in love
It's all they're shown from age 3 and above
People ask why kids grow up with hate
It's all they hear from either side of the school gate
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Empty Souls But With Crying Eyes

Take a good look around you
Do you see what I do?
Take another look to make sure
That you don't miss this anymore

Did you see the kids growing up on hate and lies?
Did you see their empty souls but with crying eyes?
Did you see the estates of crumbling bricks and mortar?
Did you see the faces of the sons and daughters?

      Kids playing on broken glass
      Politcians hoping it'll surpass
But that won't happen don't you see
      Take another look Mr. MP

Did you see the problems of corner street drugs?
Did you see the amount of stabbings and mugs?
Did you see the houses that were covered in boards?
Did you see the kids looking for help from the lords?
      ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Keep On Loving You (dedicated to me girl Alison)

      Even after everything
      You and I went through
      I just can't help myself
      I keep on loving you

      You're always on my mind
      You're there all the time
      For me
I can't help but love you
      You're the only who'll do
      For me

      Even after everything
      You and I went through
      I just can't help myself
      I keep on loving you

      I just can't forget
      That day that I regret
      Saying that
I know that it hurt you
      But I never mean to
      Say that

      Following The 2-Tone Sound

Growing up on the streets that are now knocked down
Singing along to the songs and getting a teacher's frown
Becuase we follow the 2-tone sound

If we continously listened to the music of ska
People said that we wouldn't get that far
But we're still following the 2-tone sound

Following the lyrics right down to every last word
We make sure 2-tone will always be heard
Because we're following the 2-tone sound

We don't care what people say about the noise
This music was created for us girls and boys
So we're still following the 2-tone sound

      What Can I Say Today?

      I can't say puff and I can't say queer
I can't say bender or ginger beer
I can't even say the word gay
      What can I say today?

      I can't this and I can't that
      If I say the other I'm labelled a tw*t
      I can't black and I can't say white
      What can I say tonight?

      I can't love and I can't say bird
      I can't say queen because that's absurd
But these rules are only one way
So what can I say today?
      -----------------------------------------------------------

City's Noise (inspired by The Jam's That's Entertainment)

Breakfast burning and the running water
Smashing glasses and next door's daghter
Tires screeching and fights breaking out
Mothers yelling and a father's shout

      Drunks complaining about last calls
      Kids running after their footballs
      Pianos playing and guitars strumming
People singing and the drummers drumming

Doors slamming and the rattle of gates
      Arguments happening between best mates
Stray cats crying and hound dogs barking
Stolen cars running past the empty parking

River waves splashing and the rain faling
Dinner hour rush and the gossip queens calling
Babies crying with even noiser toys
All make up our city's noise

Don't Life Me Up To Your Skies Of Standards

      Here I stand
Without the paper in my hand
Telling me I reached the stanards you set
      Here I am
      Without word from the man
That I've reached the standards I regret

So don't lift me up to your skies of standards
Becuase they're standards I don't wish to reach
So don't life me up to your skies of standards
They're the standards you and them can keep

      Here I sit
      Without the very precious bit
Of infomation saying I reached the aquired score
      Here I smile
      Becuase you're in denial
And I don't have to pursue to reach them no more

So don't lift me up to your skies of standards
Becuase they're standards I don't wish to reach
So don't life me up to your skies of standards
They're the standards you and them can keep

      Here I lie
      With everyone talking about my
Inability to reach the national standard
      Now I am
Not as good as a man
And that's the way I've been branded

So don't lift me up to your skies of standards
Becuase they're standards I don't wish to reach
So don't life me up to your skies of standards
They're the standards you and them can keep

      Blind Boy

He can't see for he is a blind boy
He doesn't see the stars and he doesn't see the sun
      But he can hear eveyone

But he can see his perfect world in his mind's eye
And even a blind boy can still manage to cry
When people tell him his world doesn't exist
Then even a blind boy can always insist

He can't see for he is a blind boy
He'll never see the reflection look back at him
But he knows if he's sin

But even a blind boy has an idea of perfection
Where blindess doesn't stop you showing affection
And where people don't look at you like you're blind
But they see you as a person with a heart, soul and mind
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Enjoy folks, I know there's a few but they were the best of a bad bunch. I've got plenty more I could of chosen.

Toxteth Play Area (not my poem, but from a lad in the same street as me)

Standing around on the corner looking for something to do
Because everything has been shut down
Turning into the nearest alehouse for a pint or two
It’s either that or another fight in town

Seven days a week we’re stuck in this Toxteth play area
Met by the same problems every second of every day
Black, white, yellow or brown we’re treated the same
Someone from Liverpool 8 isn’t wanted in the world today

Needles in our hands and guns in our coat pockets
Only to be defended by police car sirens
So we take aim with our pistol and decide to cock it
And pull the trigger on more F***ing tyrants

Seven days a week we’re stuck in this Toxteth play area
Met by the same problems every second of every day
Black, white, yellow or brown we’re treated the same
Someone from Liverpool 8 isn’t wanted in the world today

Every girl under the age of 20 with a babe in a pram
And every lad still in his teens stoned to F**k
But when society is the slaughter and we are the lamb
Who can blame us for testing our luck?

Seven days a week we’re stuck in this Toxteth play area
Met by the same problems every second of every day
Black, white, yellow or brown we’re treated the same
Someone from Liverpool 8 isn’t wanted in the world today

      Life

It's hard to know what happens next,
      It'll come as a shock,you just don't expect,
      Suddenly destiny has chosen me,
Turning my world inside out till
      fate determines who and what
      I'm meant to be.

Listen to advice for all its worth,
but enjoy everyday you're on this earth.
Choices you make will decide if you're
      happy or upset,
Whether you take the chance or
      live with regret.

Life gets tough, it can get too much,
People turn to suicide, alcohol and drugs
to escape from problems, a reprieve as such.
Others are lucky ,they make it through,
Given some confidence ,they begin to believe
that their once faintest dreams, they can now achieve.

      Last Heartache

Take a look around this nation and answer what you’ve questioned
Is this kind of civilisation you’re proud of when it’s mentioned?
Keep on searching for the answer because you’ll find it one day
Is it right to be a romancer in the current world of today?

Give this city one last kiss before you search again
Give this town one last wave before you start to sweat
Give this world one last dream before you give up hope
Because they haven’t given you your last heartache yet

The answers may be high or low or through the looking glass
The answers may come and go but will always be in the past
Lampposts and buildings towering over family filled dreams
The unemployed millions just to compensate the politician’s means

Give this city one last kiss before you ring the bell
Give this town one last wave before you have to fret
Give this world one last dream before you stop believing
Because they haven’t given you your last heartache yet

They’ll hunt you down and pin the blame upon your shoulders
And if you should turn around you look at the deck’s holders
They can deal the cards that you real don’t want to see
And it gets just to hard for that one last try at democracy

Give this city one last kiss before you say no point
Give this town one last wave before you close your gate
Give this world one last dream before you join the queue
Because they haven’t given you your last heartache mate
