      Euro Vox
      Feb 03, 2008 06:11:14 pm
Get onto this! I've just brought a Euro Vox satellite receiver from Paddy's Market for £130. All you need is a Virgin Cable connection and pay the minimum subscription each month and this box replaces the Virgin one. The box will unscramble all of the premium channels, All Sky sports, setanta sports, Sky movies and all pay per view boxing! £30 a month gets me my phone, broad band and all the cable TV channels! This includes LFC TV and I believe all the porn channels (I will investigate that further tonight!). There is a few draw backs though, as the box unscrambles every cable channel it is possible to get MUTV! This must be skipped passed as fast as the remote will operate! Seriously though this is great an I would well recommend it!

Sounds good though. Shame it doesn't work for Sky as well.

And then do what with the box? Chuck it away and lose a good £200 worth of telly? ;D

So... legal to have but not to use... hmm, could put it on show, polish it nicely, maybe put it in a cabinet? ;)

There was a thing going round a couple of years a go.  When NTL was around everyone had their boxes illegally done so all the channels would be unlocked.  The NTL vans just went round every street and knocked the signal off the boxes.

      I've said I'll sit on the fence a few times haven't I?  :D

I live in a "non-cable area", does that mean it wouldn't work as I would have to get a Virgin Box? Or would one of these just replace the Virgin Box?

Also, does it get channels that show matches at 3 on a Satdee? (as we never seem to play at that time anymore).

      Right..seriously considering this, few questions:

I have not got a Virgin cable, I currently have a Sky one though will that be ok to use or will I jhave to get a Virgin one or does the box come with it.

      How much is it monthly?

How Easy is it to set up and if I chose to ditch my Sky subscription for this could I easily pull out of it by simply phoning them up?

Could I record certain programmes like Sky+ enables me too.

How reliable are these things off Ebay, will I get robbed or what?

You will have to subscribe to Virgin cable (and so live in a virgin cable area!), I just replaced the virgin box with my Euro Vox receiver, I followed the simple scanning instructions (and they have to be simple for me 'cos I don't do technology!). I can now get every channel that Virgin can supply, you will need to pay Virgin the minimum subscription to keep the connection open (mine is part of a package that includes my broadband, land line and mobile phone but the TV costs me about £10 a month).

Doddzy, I got my box from a fella in Great Homer street market (which was really handy because Virgin did manage to block the boxes about a month ago and this Lad just updated the software in the receiver to unscramble the pictures again!). My box is a Euro Vox max V, I paid £130, I have seen the same box on E bay for £100. These boxes are better quality than the ones Virgin supply but they cannot record like Sky +. No doubt there will be a model of box that does, but not the one I've got! But like I said I did need to get the software updated once and that is the only draw back I've had which wasn't a problem for me because the Lad I bought it off gave me a business card to offer any further technical support.

You will get all the channels that Virgin offer for the minimum monthly subscription, Sky sports 1,2,3 and extra, all the Satanta channels inc. LFC TV! All Sky's movie channels, all Pay per view boxing and numerous porn channels (that Mrs CH doesn't let me watch!) But unfortunately you don't get the foreign channels that show the footy At 3pm on a Saturday! This does work and I would recommend it to any one. Any one in the Merseyside Area who's thinking about getting one should use the Lad on Greaty Market, if you do hit any snags he'll sort them out for you!

Hmm, see the only way I think I could get one is off Ebay as I stay in Scotland, we had a market that probs did them but it got shut down :( And if I need a software update it could lead to problems.

That's the only problem, like I said mate I don't do the technical thing and the Lad I got mine off is a genuine Lad who helped me out no problem. There must be other places to get the software up dates if they are needed again, you just need to look into it before you commit to buying one, may be if you find a supplier in Scotland they will sort you out. I hope you do it's a lot of telly and footy for a tenner a month!

Like I said, anyone in the Merseyside area the Lad on Greaty is genuine and will help you out no problem.
