      New ads at anfield
      Aug 23, 2008 12:50:45 pm
Just seen on football focus, an interview at anfield about rafa and parry and in the background was the kop with some bloke setting up those annoying advertisement boards you know the video display ones >:(, so if your watching on tv all you will see is ads for all sorts of crap flashing about, like the arses and manc bas*ards ground , i think its very distracting . anyone else hate those things?

I think its about time honestly, we have something like 3 sponsors compared to uniteds 30 something, its rediculus, i dont care if theres advertising, it should bring in some more money and i only really care about what happens in the match today

      Agree with Mag.

About time we started moving with the times.  If it means we make a bit more money than we have been then all the better.  We have got huge debts remember.

Even better when I get down there hack in to it and change it to 'F**k off Tom Hicks.'

I think it is about time we had this type of advertising, we have lagged behind the scum for years with this type of thing, do agree 100% though, they are very distracting, sometimes more entertaining depending on who plays, but I can not wait to Delta taxis and Gregg the Bakers in 3D moving adverts! :lmao:

What about LFC for Sale, offers around £500 million ONO. that would be great.

I agree that we need to move with the times as many of the "lesser clubs" ;) have had them for ages and how many times have you said to your mate "I wonder what the odds are for the next scorer to be Kuyt/Torres etc?" well now you can see it in real time on the boards!

It also enables us to get in more sponsers at once and more financial backing, after all that's the main advantage right?

I thought I was watching a La Liga game....it is quite odd to see on the pitch. Not that it is any better or worst but it will be something I will have to get use to.

I wounder though if that will be taken down for UCL matches (if we get in the group stage) since all their ads are different UEFA sponsors.

To be honest I hate it. Just shows how much football has been comercialised (Just like watching a sport in America which is very bad news). It is just distracting the way it flashes. Just imagine Bill Shankly if he saw this now. Why can't we just watch a football match without being treated like customers.

In past seasons whenever I watched highlights of matches at Old Trafford and Emirates with thier advertisement boards it was always left me with satisfaction that Anfield didn't have this... oh well.

Was pleased at first - that we were joining the commercial age.

But our ads seemed to be THE most annoying when comparing them on MOTD.  Too much animation, too much flashing.

I'm all for something that enables us to 'rotate' the ads but not necessary to have so much moving images etc - they were changing like every 4 seconds.

      I don't think it's distracting at all.
I didn't even realise it was there. Just need to focus on the game i guess

I can remember when we were the only team in the first division not to have any advertising hoardings around the ground at all, except for A-Z along the Kemlyn road stand where they used to put the half time scores up.

How times have changed eh  ::)

I realise of course, financially, that we have to have adverts I just don't want it to look like a bloody disco.

Financially, we've needed to do this for a long time. United and Arsenal have been benefiting from these for a while. Even West Ham had them! :o

No doubt though, they are bloody annoying!

I agree with the general consensus - we need to move with the times.

At the match I thought before kick off they are bl**dy annoying.  After the game started I never noticed them again.

I didn't like the singing of "You'll Never Walk Alone" after the teams were on the pitch and during the pre kickoff warm-up.  They cut it a bit short for the kickoff although we kept on singing.  Not a good idea.

I didn't get the game on Saturday Oldred but I heard about that. Not happy with it myself.

As for the new ads, blah! I've never liked them since I first seen them. Just another example of modern day football losing its values.

I guess we'll be getting a replay screen as well soon.  Mind you, I can remember back to when we were one, if not the first team to have a sponsor (Hitachi) on the shirt in the Division One days.
