AC Milan are ready to offer Liverpool the 'new Zinedine Zidane' in a bid to beat Real Madrid to the signing of Daniel Agger.

The Italian giants see the Danish centre-back as a long-term replacement for Paolo Maldini.

And the side are willing to offer France midfielder Yoann Gourcuff as part of a deal.

The 22-year-old spent two unhappy years at the San Siro but is now starting a season-long loan at Bordeaux - and has quickly established himself in the France team.

we wud be so stupid to get rid of dan agger. hes the next jamie caragher, who else can replace the legend of carragher? hes a well known and well loved player already in our squad. hes stayin and thats that.

I agree with you! The fact that 2 of the biggest clubs in the world are after him say's he's worth keeping!!!! I still like the look of this Gourcuff guy. I think we should put in a separate lone bid for him. The fact he's had 2 poor years and is on loan means his price will be low enough for a bargain!!!! Just remember Xabi Alonso cost less than 10 million!!!!

Dan Agger's quality. I just want to see him play again. It's been to long for a player as good as him to be sidelined.

He was one of the outstanding players that season. He scored the equaliser (aggregate) against Chelsea that season too. That's what i like about him: he scores goals as a defender. I mean, we don't have many players at the moment who score a lot. We have Torres, Babel, Gerrard and Kuyt (in Champions League games). Plus, let's not forget his top class defending. Hopefully, with the absence of Skrtel this week, he will get a full 90 minutes and pick up the Man of the Match so that Rafa remembers the quality in Agger.

Hyypia is more than likely to be in his last season for us and Carra is now into the age beginning with a 3 although Carra will go for ever but Agger and Skrtel are the future centre back pairing for us so why would Rafa want him to go or even think about letting him go.

No thanks. If Rafa wanted Gourcuff then he'd put in a separate bid for him and i doubt he does want him.

If this deal was legit though then i'd say Gourcuff + 15 million would be fair. Yoann isn't worth alot, despite doing well now he was a flop at Milan and in no way deserves a big price tag or even one tipping past double figures (in millions).

Keep your flop, we keep our star and thats that.

Reports in France suggest interest from Premier League clubs is mounting in gifted forward Yoann Gourcuff.

AC Milan attacker Gourcuff is currently on loan at Bordeaux and he has shone in Ligue 1 this season, leading to rumours of interest in his services.

Bordeaux are thought to be keen to extend his stay at Stade Chaban-Delmas but it is suggested Gourcuff's wage demands could prove a sticking point.

It is now claimed that Liverpool and Manchester City have been monitoring the 22-year-old's situation, although neither club have commented on the speculation.

Scouts from the Reds and City are said to have attended Bordeaux's 3-2 victory over Le Mans on Saturday as Gourcuff netted his side's second goal.

To be honest i havent heard of him.

Brilliant season he's had, didnt fit in at Milan but has shone since. Plays on the right or through the middle but TBH, i wouldnt have him ahead of Dirk or Steven.

Heard about him, scored a wonder goal against Roma or someone in the CL this season.But that is all I know about him.Wouldn't spend more than 10 million for him!!

I reckon he'd be a good signing.
At the moment Kuyt has shown to be adept on the right, but after his goal against WBA i believe his best position's up front.

As for the second post, Dirk is a marvel on the right IMO just goes to show his work is undervalued and doesnt get the recognition he deserves. His movement on the right creates that space for Fernando and Steven. I advise you actually watch our game and study it before making assumptions on where players should play.

Liverpool set sights on €15million New Zidane

Liverpool Football Club are set to make a move for Yoann Gourcuff.

The France international is currently starring for Bordeaux as Laurent Blanc’s side close on their first Ligue 1 title since 1999, yet he is contracted to Italian giants AC Milan.

A deal is in place which would allow the Stade Chaban-Delmas side to take the 22-year-old on a permanent basis if they can find €15million by May 31.

However, reports claim Rafael Benitez is hoping to gatecrash the proposed transfer, as he looks to add more quality to his Anfield squad in the wake of their failed Premier League title bid.

The Reds manager is willing to pay Milan’s asking price of €15million for Gourcuff, who has perhaps predictably been dubbed as the new Zinedine Zidane in his homeland.

However, there is also a strong possibility that the player will be given another chance to make the grade in Serie A next season, as the Rossoneri have been impressed with his performances of late.

I just wanna say let Kuyt do what's he's doing best right now.The duracell bunny has been our pillar of strength this season. Don't ever sell Agger no matter what. He's the perfect replacement for Hyypia. As for this guy, I don't him that much. Watching youtube doesn't change thing. I still don't know much about him.

At this moment in time it's not about improving our first XI, it's about improving our strength-in-depth.

People seem to think that whoever we buy will be playing 50+ games a season, but this is not the case.

As this fella seems to be of decent quality down the right, he would make for sufficient cover for Dirk.

Better if he can play like Dirk. Tiredless effort and full of energy.

From the right, Dirk gives us goals, workrate, movement and assists - I think he's our top player in that last category this season.

France playmaker Yoann Gourcuff has signed a four-year deal with Bordeaux.

The gifted 22-year-old had been on a season-long loan at Stade Chaban-Delmas from Italian giants AC Milan and recently indicated that he was keen to make the move permanent.

Ligue 1 side Bordeaux have now taken up their option to buy Gourcuff, who has reportedly caught the eye of a clutch of European sides.

"Bordeaux and Yoann Gourcuff are happy to announce that they have signed a four-year deal. Bordeaux have indeed decided to lift their option to buy the player," read a statement on Bordeaux's official website.

So impressive has Gourcuff's form been this campaign, the France international was named Ligue 1 Player of the Season by his peers on Sunday.
