Lisowski puts Ding out 10-9. If Lisowski can stay calm he could be a big threat.Great potter and it's been said if he brought his practice game to the event he'd be even harder to beat. Underachieved for sure. Bingham in the next round.

He's great value isn't he? Has cracked in some big moments but to win that decider against Ding in that fashion will do him the world of good. Definitely one to watch this year

Trump is due to meet O'Sullivan in the semi's if they get through. In the top half of the draw looking like Dave Gilbert will play the winner of Murphy/Maguire. Mark Allen if he gets past Higgins will fancy getting to the final.

Usual suspects to one side, Dave Gilbert could be the surprise. But I can't see him beating O'Sullivan or Trump in the final if it works out that way.

      Maguire has beat him 13-9.

My pick has been eliminated and I can’t say I’m disappointed to be wrong on this one.

Higgins and Allen go to a deciding frame.

It hasn't been the greatest match in terms of quality but every frame has had plenty of drama. Twists and turns a plenty.

As the cliche goes, you just want one chance in the final frame.

Allen got his chance and broke down on 62.

Higgins wasn't left an easy red but a fantastic reverse double left him in amongst them for his chance. And the four time world champ done what he's done for the last 30 years and cleared up when he needed to.

The first and last reds in that clearance are why John Higgins is my all time favourite player. Two boss, under pressure pots.

Higgins through to face Kyren Wilson in the last eight.

That was absolutely extraordinary by John. Wow. He played those shots like it was an exhibition match...with no pressure. And yet there was, with his top 16 status under threat.

I'm agog as to how Allen isn't in the quarters. That was truly a great moment of snooker delivered by one of its greatest.

What a match and what a fantastic last frame....Neither player deserved to lose...but that's not how competitive elite sport works..... Kudos to John Higgins...The top sportsmen (& sportswomen) win...it's built it to their DNA

Trump starts his quarter final against Jak Jones with a century and he's closing in on a thousand hundred breaks throughout his career.

A century to open the session but at the mid-session interval Judd Trump is trailing Jak Jones 3-1.

Mark Allen must be gutted. Just that shot with rest cost him but what a clearance by Higgins. Not a fan of Higgins but he's fantastic player. That's 2 of my 3 picks out. Trump left but he'll probably meet Ronnie O in the semi's.

At the end of the opening session Jones should be leading Trump 5-3 but after getting Judd to needing a snooker, Jones missed a pink into a middle and then made a complete mess of an escape and left Trump the chance to level the match up. A chance that wasn't taken first time round, failing to land nicely on the pink. After some back and forth safety between the two players Trump eventually got the job done with two great pots on pink and doubling the black and we're all square at four-all coming back tonight.

While on the other table, Dave Gilbert is in complete control over Stephen Maguire with a 7-1 lead - inclduing the final frame where he won on a respotted black.

A match that has had a lot more mistakes than quality play in has finished four all after their first session. I don't know if O'Sullivan or Bingham will be pleased or pissed off that because both know they've had their opponent on the ropes and could have a lead going into tomorrow but both also know that they've been way below par so will be thankful to be level.

On the other side, it looks like Higgins is gonna take the eighth frame to trail Wilson by just two frames at 5-3 after being four down at the mid-session interval.

At their final mid-session interval, Jak Jones leads Judd Trump 11-9 and that scoreline doesn't flatter the Welshman at all. Trump has been all at sea for most of this match but in particular today.

Big final session coming up after the break.

Higgins struggling to hang on against Wilson, he's finding it tough out there....maybe lacking a bit of belief in himself.
