Wouldn't you include McManaman then Huyton? I know he was a sh*t in the manner he left but he was a great player.

I was never really a big fan of Mcmanaman being truly honest.

And for an attacking player his shooting was atrocious, couple of good goals against the likes of Newcastle and celtic.

And that flick of his hair every five minutes, followed by an apology to a team-mate if a pass went astray really did my head in.e in

But thats a personal opinion, some fans would have him in the list, others might not.

I'd have McManaman in the top 50 personally. I thought he was outstanding in his prime.

Apart from Fowler, Owen, Barnes, Nicol, Molby and Rush, I'd be pushed to include that many players from the 90s, simply for the fact we were sh*te.

I'd count four of those as '80's players anyway, Huyton, as they made their debut in the '80's. ;)

I suppose Barnes could count for the '90's, but Molby, Nicol and Rush are certainly '80's lads for me.

And Mikey Owen is more 2000s.

Do you mean the Noughties? ;)

We aren't giving much love to the 90's here! :D

      Are you surprised mate?

I mean we had one or two real great players and a few other good players like Rob Jones, Stig, Mark Wright, Redknapp but then we had the sh*te of Scales, Ruddock, Babb, Walters to name a few.

Not at all, a dreadful decade of football on the whole.

Bad enough on it's own, but on the back of two glorious decades it was catastrophic.

With three ex players (Kenny, Souey, Evans) at the helm for the majority of the decade.

Makes me shudder at the thought of people calling for Carra to be player-manager!

In time, perhaps, he could run the club, but he needs to learn the ins and outs of management first.

      Anyway, we're getting off-topic (or I am! :D).

Liverpool's 50 greatest players and we've mentioned Kenny Daglish, Graeme Souness and Jamie Carragher in the last two posts - I'd say we're on topic mate ;)

Maybe but they still played on into the 90s, without Molby we would not have got past Ipswich in the FA Cup replay in 92, the same goes for Barnes and Rushy in the Newcastle game of 96, their neat little one-twos led to stan's winner.

Forgot all about Rob Jones as well, would of been a virtual regular 1st team player for us and England right-back if it wasn't for those shin-splints. What a debut he had!

And as for Owen, everyone in Liverpool from about 96 onwards knew he was going to be special, especially with his pace and those goals against Newcastle in 98 were absolutely sublime.

As I said further back in the thread it is all about opinions, me I'd have Markus Babbel in there as well, even though he only really played a season for us, what a season he had!!

Might as well make a top 10-ish IMO:

      1. Gerrard
      2. Rush
      3. Dalglish
      4. Barnes
      5. Aldridge
      6. Carragher
      7. Owen
      8. Beardsley
      9. Fowler
      10. Torres

Very tough to pick and choose and rank them but i did the best i could. Shows my age.
