If Rafa thinks we need players of the quality of Forlan, Why is he letting Fowler go ? or Bellamy or as rumered Kewell. They are all as good as Forlan.Why waste the 16 or 18million. ? It has to be a wind up from the press surely. Even the urinals called him Forlorn. If it is true, and Rafa doesn't have any funds as suggested, we will be fighting for a top 10 place next season and Rafa will be gone the following one. Gillett and Hicks need to splash the cash now or it will be all over before it's begun.

totally agree i'm sick of some of the names we're being associated with lately bent , owen , forlan kiss my arse i'd maybe just put up with milito but if we're only gonna spend 16 million we can do better than all of these.

I just can’t understand the reason Forlan has been speculated.  I think I speak for most of us when I say I’d rather not buy a striker than purchase him.  After all Bellamy can only improve from last season, Kuyt will improve his goal tally, and Crouch is getting better and better.  Also we don’t waste 16m or so.  If this is true, Rafa is taking his Spanish recruitment policy a step too far. This risk factor is too high.

Its all media hype and mind games which rafa is very good at.  It must be a smokescreen as his valuation of Simao initially was very modest at up to 8m.  This was player with a lot of credentials but had flopped in Spain a different league.

However if you see 'Liverpool interested in Forlan' you think 'what the F**k?' and buy it to see what it's all about. This is the way the press operates.

Very good point there Eddie, Forlan would be a mistake and RAFA knows that, i know nothing happenned yet but I'm convinced RAFA will have a couple of surprises for us..

You seem to forget, Fernando Morientes had an impressive goalscoring rate in Spain, came over here and was a complete flop.

Forlan was here, was a flop, went to Spain, and became a great goal scorer. Morientes is at Valencia and again has a good goal scoring rate.

Just take examples of players like Freddy Kanoute. He was decent here, and look how good he is in Spain!

The only player known to Man that has coped in the Premiership brilliantly and the Spanish league has been Ruud Van Nistelrooy. I used to completely despise him when he was at Utd, but he is a god over in Spain. I realized how good he really is.

So rethink what you said, I don't want another season finishing 3rd or 4th again.

Hit the nail on the head there Court! It's making it much more difficult to look at the Spanish market as any player who hasn't proved himself elsewhere could end up like Morientes (i.e. Torres, Villa, Diego Milito)

Prove himself at just what ?  Thats he's not the egotistical, self-centred, prima donna that sulks when he gets taken off or is put on the bench ?  Cisse is not Liverpool Football Club material, he forgets that he plays for a TEAM not just himself.  Not good enough i'm afraid.
