1st and 2nd (Reds and United) - The History
      Mar 24, 2009 10:16:09 pm
Despite being the 2 most successful teams in England Liverpool and utd have only finished 1st and 2nd on 4 occasions. 1946/47 63/64 79/80 and 87/88.

On all 4 occasions Liverpool were 1st and utd second. Interesting little stat that

I don't know where it came from, it's just a premonition I had, we win the prem title with 84 point to scum on 82. The only result I know is against spurs, which is a draw. I don't know where the points are gained or lost for either side in all the other games but if that turns out to be correct, we could even afford to lose to spurs and still win by 1 point. I can't wait until the end of the season now to see if it comes true. If it does, I will be well pissed off...........       That I never saw the lottery numbers as well.

I don't watch MU much so when they play I get my news from the football channels or sometimes a news paper and this site. From what I gather they haven't played two good half's of football since before Christmas.

That tells me they are over confident or they just lost the knack to do it, it's getting to the point where one more bad result in their next game may hit their confidence hard.

So if they get another bad game then they will have a real struggle to regain their form as the games are running out. If that becomes so it will leave the field open for us or Chelsea to take the title.

I don't know how they played against Fulham in the cup, but everytime I have had the misfortune of watching the Mancs I haven't been that impressed considering the millions of pounds they have spent on nearly all their players.

Last game I saw United actually dominate was West Brom, and even then their finishing was apathetic and appalling.

That is a surprising fact indeed.

The Mancs are cracking up and are now definetly feeling the pressure I am just a little annoyed that this trend will be broken by the international break. Had the Villa game being this week I would bet my left nut they would drop points. Now with the break they have more time to re-focus.

They also have longer to stew on the fact that they have lost two in a row

Have lost some key players to poor disclipline

that goals have become for them hard to come by

and that Liverpool are hunting them down like blood hounds in the forest would hunt down an escape

That is so true. I have been keeping an eye them over their last couple of matches, in hope that they will lose.

Yes, while their defense looks solid thanks to their CBs, they attack with little or no conviction.

Very often, they end their match with something like 3 or 4 strikers. I will see Rooney, Tevez, and Berbatov all on the field. Along with attacking midfielders such as Ronaldo, Scholes, or Giggs (I consider them half strikers).

None of their wins are as convincing as our last 3 games (our 4-0 against Real, 4-1 against them, and 5-0 against Villa).

Seriously, its down to the way they play and problems with their player resouces. They simply don't take their chances. I don't see how they can elevate their game for their remaining matches and surely the law of averages and fatigue will catch up on them.

I am pretty convinced we will win the league if we can play like how we did in the last 3 matches.

The reason for there anger is that they know they have been found out now. They have been lucky and havent turned over teams 4 and 5 nil. We are supposed to be defensive yet have scored more goals than them. Too many egos in there now Tevez Rooney Ronaldo Berbatov to name just 4 you could add the rest of them I suppose. Dont be surprised if Villa go there and get something out the game especially if we can beat Fulham. Arsenal would love to go there and upset Ferguson and they still have City as well.

Something i thought of and no one has highlighted in the media yet is that by the time Scholes and Vidic play, it'll be a month between games or something like that. They'll be lacking some match fitness and Rooney will only have the international game to keep his fitness up.

Something else working in our favour.

Well hopefully we will win the 19th title, on the 19th year, for my 19th Birthday.

That a side, Man U has consistently been playing below par. They millions they have spent, has been marred by their poor performances. We talk about them having a wonderful time of a season, having players in contention for player of the year. But, those player are certainly not their most feared attacking force, or even, second most feared. Vidic, is seen as the real contender in their side for player of the year. That goes a long way in telling us the top performers. I think this season, teams have not really feared Man U's attacking abilities. The fear is of their defense and how formidable it was. Rafa has sounded the alarms, informing the rest of the teams, they too can attack United with success.

United, has won games on a considerable tight margin, throughout the entire season. Unlike Liverpool who has jabbed away at the opponents until they fall. United, referring to the Stoke game, where Stoke had them on a leash, United had fortunes of a sending off that gifted them the win. Likewise with other games the margin of victory, was not convincing, with exception of West Brom. So where will the confidence suddenly adorn on United from? Surely, Villa will feel that they are the better team in regards to Fulham. Surely, they'll seek to embark on a similar result that of Fulham, all in the name of challenging for the Champions League.

Man U, gladly has players such as; Nani, Anderson, CARRICK, and Hargreaves that are just not good enough. Now they turn to their experienced retiring age players to rescue them from the depths of humiliation. I certainly don't see that confidence brimming out, any time soon.

I am thankful, that I didn't at no point in time, give up on the season. Mathematics is key! That's why I choose to not rule out Arsenal as well. As if they were Liverpool I would be grasping at the title strawn of hope. So I'm confident, this will be our 5th in regards; to Liverpool 1st and Manu 2nd by all means 3rd or even 4th, both will be welcomed.
