Riera Mulls Moscow Move

Unsettled Liverpool winger Albert Riera has admitted a transfer to the Russian Premier League is an attractive option.
Riera has been frozen out at Anfield after last week's astonishing attack on manager Rafa Benitez in the Spanish media, in which he referred to Liverpool as 'a sinking ship'.

And the Spain international may take advantage of Russia's extended transfer window, which runs until 8th April, to depart to Spartak Moscow on loan.
"Russia presents a very interesting option for me," Riera is quoted as saying in Russian newspaper Sport Express.
"For one, it's the only prestigious league in Europe where the transfer window is open.
"And secondly, if I play there regularly, I may be able to earn my ticket to the World Cup in South Africa."

Riera appears hopeful a deal can be concluded in the near future.
"I hope that the question of my transfer will be resolved by this week," he stated.

It's reported today that Spartak Moscow are after a loan deal which has been KB'd by Liverpool.

Rafa confirms Riera talks

Rafael Benitez today confirmed Liverpool are in discussions with other clubs regarding Albert Riera.

The future of the Spain winger has been the subject of press speculation in recent weeks.

Benitez said: "We are working with different clubs trying to find a solution at the moment and we will see what happens.

"I said we will deal with this internally. We will try to do some business if we can."

Pretty much confirms that he will leave soon enough. He's not in the squad for the Sunderland game either.

this guy was caught between a rock and a hard place. no first team football so getting frustated with the world cup around the corner. if he does go to spartak moscow he wont be sitting on the bench plus champion league games. he has a  russian wife i have heard. so it might be a good move for him

I don't really care if its a good move for him or not if he doesn't want to play for the club then forget him. If he had worked hard in training then then he would have got his chance in the team.

Spitting the dummy in public just proved that he cares more about himself than the team and we don't need players like that. Rafa should let him rot in the reserves, imagine what would happen if you went on about your boss like that you'd be handed your P45!!

Champions League games? CSKA is in the Cl, not Spartak.

Riera looked decent last season, but this season he played only a few games. I think that he had to be given a chance, but if Rafa manages to get at least 8 million for him and buys someone that will help the team, I'll be pleased.

He's not in the squad for the Sunderland game either.
