      Jun 13, 2009 01:30:05 am
Does anyone know of any planned releases for a cricket game on any of the consoles this year, its been a long time since theres been a new game?maybe something to replace the Lara series or maybe a new EA Sports game?Seems like an ideal time, what with the Twenty/Twenty on at the mo and the ashes around the corner?

Used to quite like Brian Lara.  Be decent to have a good cricket game on the consoles.

Brian Lara was class! I also had one that was entitled something like 'Cricket 2005'. I'm not sure if there are any planned releases now though mate.

Try checking www.gamefaqs.com and going onto the PS3 section - it has all upcoming releases on there. A world 20-20 game would be pretty decent I think seeing as it's on at the moment.

There is usually a International Cricket Captain game released for the PC and it tends to be ok. It's a bit like Footy Manager for Cricket.

The EA Sports games are alright and all, Cricket 07 is sound. Don't know if they've released any for this year or next though.

Do you reckon they would get bombed with a 4 month injury every test.

      Cool.

I guess the only drawback is that you can only play as England and Australia...

This was on one of the sites I looked at about the wii version but I presume it would apply to the others aswell:

Codemasters has announced it will release Ashes Cricket 2009 for Wii in August, promising to take players closer to the action than ever before.

The Wii edition will enable up to four players to take to the field in a variety of game modes including the Ashes series, Test Matches and limited overs matches including 20 overs cricket. Batsmen will be able to use the Wii Remote to drive, cut, slog and nurdle their way through an innings, while the fielding team will be able to use the Wii Remote to polish the ball, set their field and bowl accurately applying swing/turn.

In addition to featuring the fully licensed teams from England and Australia, Ashes Cricket 2009 will feature six other Test playing nations as well as ten of the world’s most recognisable stadia, including the five featuring in this summer’s npower Ashes Series.

Commentary will be provided by cricketing favourites Jonathan Agnew, Shane Warne, Ian Botham, Ian Bishop and Tony Greig.

Ashes Cricket 2009 will be released for Wii in August, with PS3, Xbox 360 and PC versions to be released during the npower Ashes series.

So its sounds like there will be other teams but will probably have generic players.

I'm not 100% sure on it it's just the way they said "In addition to featuring the fully licensed teams from England and Australia"

      Yeah.

I owned a cricket game a few years back (can't remember exactly what year) where you could play as club teams as well as a variety of international teams. Great it was.
