      Are we also missing Arbeloa?

We missing Arbeloa's consistency and at the back... He was not the player who will give us outstanding performance week in week out but he surely gave us stability at the back, he was so consistant and intelligent... Mayb glen is a more attacting an pacy than alvaro but if we look at it on every perspective arbeloa is a better player for liverpool... Johnson inconsistency and injuries have already cost us alot this season... I really thing it was another mistake by rafa to let go of arbeloa. What do you think mates.?

I think it's a bit simple to say Rafa shouldn't have let him go.

Arbeloa was letting his contract run down, wanted to return to Spain, so Rafa was left with the choice of selling him, or keeping him for one more year then letting him go for free.

Footballing-wise, I always liked Arbeloa. He was very consistent, and versatile as he could play any position defensively. However, he made his choice, and I think Johnson is a good replacement.

The two have different styles of play, but you cannot deny Johnson offers a great deal to the team offensively. I think in time he will become a very dependable player for us.

In the end, it's a little unrealistic to expect Arbeloa's replacement to be a carbon-copy of him.

In all honesty on reflection I was not too disheartened by Arbeloa leaving as I believed Alonso would have the greater impact and to be frankly honest I still do, however I would have liked to have seen Arby stay and seen what kind of effect we'd have got playing Johnson right hand side of midfield in front of Arbeloa as I think that would have gave us a great balance but it was not meant to be and life goes on.

Just to add to the debate could Kuyt's form be directly linked to Arbeloa departure ?, lets be honest they had a couple of great seasons working together forging a good understanding with one & other ?

Could very well be. They had some great link up play together and a very good awareness of each other. Will take time to get that with johnson. Would still like to see a johnson RM Kelly RB run out tried
