      Don't Quit!
      Dec 27, 2009 08:43:48 am
Yesterday's game against Wolves marked the halfway point of our campaign. We're out of the CL, and that top four spot seems a little distant at the moment. With 19 games still to go, 57 points at stake, 12 points behind Chelsea, we could still do a very good campaign. We still got runs in the Europa League, FA Cup to look forward to, so don't fret despite how bad things may look.

I'll like to share a little, but inspiration poem I've came across on a poster lying in my house.

      Don't Quit

      When things go wrong,
      as they sometimes will,
      When the road you're
      trudging seems all uphill,
      When the funds are low,
      and the debts are high,
      You want to smile,
      but you have to sigh,
      When care is pressing,
      you down a bit,
      Rest, if you must,
      But don't you quit.

      Success is a failure
      turned inside out,
The silver tint of clouds of doubt.
      And you can never tell,
      how close you are,
      It may be near,
      when it seems afar.
      So, stick to the fight,
      when you're hardest hit -
      It's when things go wrong
      that you mustn't quit!

Here's to hoping a very eventful second half of the season, so don't you quit on Liverpool Football Club!

PS: Apologies mods could you help me shift the thread into the relevant section, I posted it in the wrong section. Sorry.

I love the enthusiasm and hope in you ROF, and many others here. Some others here could use that kind of attitude.

Great to get the win yesturday , but Villa away is the big one if we lose we can safley say fourh spot is well and truely out of our hands , on the other hand if we beat Villa the doubts will effect them going into the second half of the season and give us a massive lift which could lead to a much improved run of results and get us right back in there , there is a long way to go and we finish seasons better than we start them.

Surely, being a fan is about passion and commitment, it's not about results whatsoever. I'm a fan of Liverpool since I began to watch football and it's a part of me now.
Although I'm much frustrated, everybody in the forum already knows  ;D , but we still got th FA Cup and the Europa League to play for. I really would like our team to finish this season with a trophy. But whatever happens, I will always be a Liverpool fan.

...and that's the whole point. We all get frustrated and we all need to vent - as long as we all realise that, underneath, we all feel the same. Sometimes it's best to think about that and understand it before we either post or reply in 'anger'.

If anyone has anything inspirational please share - it might just rid more of the negativity around!

Something inspirational now though, might be that Villa just lost 3-0 so we're going into the Villa game in a very positive frame of mind!

In my book anyone who even contemplates quitting are not and probably never have been true L.F.C. supporters. You have to take the rough with the smooth even if we do not like the rough at times.
I would suggest people look back at the gates we got at Anfield in the 1950s (second division days) and they will see we never deserted the REDS then.
To anyone who has the slightest inkling of quitting I say get out now,you are definitely not the sort of fan we need at Anfield.Since 1892 this club has provided many successes for the fans and you can be sure L.F.C. will bring many more successes in the future. Its in our RED BLOOD.

That is a top top poem, and really captures our current situation, and the character that we will need to see ourselves through it. Call me mad, but I personally think that we can catch the mancs. A 10 point gap with half the season to play, it isn't impossible, and from there we should set our sights on Chelsea.

Aim as high as you can, and always be dissapointed with anything less. That's the way this club is made to perform, and I'm not writing off our season just yet, in any competition.

Any post (or poem) that offers hope is more than welcomed here. We were spoiled throughout the 70's and 80's, titles and trophies were part and parcel of any season. It's because of our history and prestige that we get so frustrated as fans. Despite our 'barren' years we are still the most successful club in British football. That fact is testament itself to how great our club is. Good times will come again, we just have to be patient. Glory is nobody's by divine right, we have to work for it, we have to earn it through hard work and commitment. We have to stick together as one, and if nobody is prepared to do that, then just F**k off and support Chelski or the Scum. We are Liverpool Football Club - We Will Walk Through This Storm - just as we have before.

The word quit and Liverpool FC never come into the same sentence. It's a question that's never asked because of our history, and it's no different now.We are Liverpool.not arrogant but supportive of the Ideals that Shanks imparted and uncle Bob implemented. When times get tough,as the saying goes, ask not what the club can do for you,but what you can do for the club.I persnonally once sold my car to get the money to go to a CL final, with no second thought.I boarded a train at Limestreet with Bros who had blagged their way on the train, with no money or clothes(other than that they were wearing), on the way to Rome. That is commitment, and I still have'nt seen one of them to this day,(got a job and bird over there).

I'm glad to see the likes of you. You reminded me of sth, my brother once asked me: "If Liverpool is having a game and you cannot afford buying a ticket, what will you do?" I said "I will stop eating to afford it, what do you expect from someone who travels 90 km to watch Liverpool games on T.V"  ;)

When all seems lost and things go wrong.
Try and remember the words to our song.
The world has not ended and the end is not nigh.
Walk through the storm with your head held up high.
When problems arise out on the park.
Were strong for each other, not afraid of the dark.
With all of our struggles and our terrible form.
We look to the end of this damaging storm.
Stand up and be counted, don’t lay down and die.
At the end of the storm is a sweet golden sky.
Out on the stands were the 12th man on the park.
The chorus is the sweet silver song of the lark.

Our support is unwavered we’ll never rescind.
We walk on together through all of this wind.
No matter the suffering or all of the pain.
We walk on together through all of this rain.
Problems arise and some doubts will be sown.
When all of your dreams are being tossed and blown.
Collectively in unison, never to be torn apart.
We walk on together with hope in our heart.
Facing the adversity like a dog with a bone.
We walk on together were never alone.

good post and i would hope nobody entertained the idea of quitting. we all remember the mediocre days of sounness and evans but we stick with our team through the good times and the bad.

we can all vent our frustration and let out some steam, but we support the best club in the world.

      Loving the enthusiasm here :D
I'm still confident of a top 4 finish.
The way the top sides are dropping points this season, a run of 5 or 6 wins could see us half the gap bewtween ourselves and Chelsea.
That's the good thing about the league, if you turn your form around you can climb the table very quickly.
Let's just aim to finish as highly as possible and hopefully bag a europa and FA cup :)
