Argentine midfielder looking to test himself at a higher level

Argentina international Lucas Biglia believes the time has come for him to try his luck in a top division.

The highly-rated midfielder is currently on the books of Belgian outfit Anderlecht.

He has been able to earn international recognition this year, forming part of his country's squad at the 2011 Copa America.

Biglia is, however, of the opinion that he could handle life at a higher domestic level and hopes he will get his wish this summer.

There has been plenty of speculation linking him with a move to England - with Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham all reported to be keen - and the 25-year-old admits he would be open to such a move.

"I think I have ended my cycle at Anderlecht and I want to do something new," Biglia told Het Nieuwsblad.

"The board know what I want to do.

"I know that playing for the Argentina national side means I get plenty of exposure and opens lots of doors.

"Sometimes I feel I have to do more because I am playing in Belgium. I am aware that it would be easier if I was playing in a different league."

Actually, he is a defensive midfielder ... A very good one ...

Can't see this happening to be honest we have a wealth of Midfielders at our disposal at the minute.

Considering that we have only Lucas Leiva as a defensive midfielder on our team, selling one of the central midfielders, and replacing him with someone like Lucas Biglia makes a lot of sense ... Unless, of course, people expect that Lucas will play all the matches next season or, God forbid, that we will keep Christian Poulsen ...

I am not talking about this specific player, however i have never heard of him, in general i see a lot of player threads being opened by you, where the players are somewhat unknown, to me anyway, and the article linking us with them are somewhat vague.

Considering we probably won't play with a specified defensive midfielder next season it doesn't for me.

I see Kenny playing with two central midfilders who will have to be disciplined and contribute to both the attacking and defending phases of play as he always has done.

I'm not taking any sides here, but an Argentine international means F**k all to me at least for a couple years after Maradona gave anyone with a pair of boots and a bus pass a cap.

Don't need him and I don't think he is good enough for Liverpool!

Any Lucas is good Lucas.

He was linked with us last year and it came to nothing. It was just his Agent trying to engineer a move or up his contract at Anderlecht. Would definitely take this one with a pinch of salt.
