Gervinho (Lille)

New Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is weighing up making a move for Ivory Coast star Gervinho now that Yossi Benayoun has completed his £6million move to Chelsea.

The ex- Fulham manager is looking to strengthen his squad and was keeping tabs on the pacy winger during the World Cup.

He is considering making a bid for the Lille man, though the French club will have to lower their asking price of £10m.

Hodgson would not be willing to pay more than £8m for the 23-year-old, who cost Lille £6.5m just a year ago.

But Gervinho would fill the gap left by Benayoun if the Israeli does, as expected, complete his switch with the clubs reported to have agreed a deal before Hodgson’s arrival.

He seemed okay, comfortable on the ball.

I think Gervinho looked really good, but players looking good at the world cup doesnt mean they can do it in an LFC shirt, plus with the new home grown rule starting this season I think we need to be looking at developing the younger (already HG) players we already have and buying british, shame good young english players are massively overpriced tho

Hazard is not as naturally skilled as Gervinho. Anyway people are talking about English players, my question is, where are they coming from?

Gervinho is very very lively on the ground, can be next big thing from africa.

Think he had been hurt. Not sure he played against us in that home/away.

I am almost certain he played against us in the Away leg. Not sure about the Home game though.

From what i saw of him in the WC i remember thinking he looked a decent striker. Only saw him in 2 games though, so i don't know enough about him to think about signing him.

Outstanding player!!!I've watched him playing for Ivory more than 10 times,at the African cup and the world cup....I'm impressed :)Tricky attacking winger that can beat 2-3 players in a row,and goes straight to the goal and very often scores.What else could we want?

That would do me fine, but would be hilarious! Yossi is more inclined to score and change a game, change Joe? Plus Joe's wages are going to be over the board, he must accept a pay cut. This lad is young and a great prospect, very composed on the ball.
