Benitez rejects Kjaer speculation

Rafa Benitez has dismissed reports that Liverpool are targeting Palermo starlet Simon Kjaer as a replacement for Daniel Agger.

There has been continued speculation over Agger’s future following his apparent reluctance to sign a new deal at Anfield, and reports in Italy have suggested Kjaer, 20, has been lined up as a result.

The player’s agent, Mikkel Beck, told setanta.com last month that Kjaer is available for €12 million (£10.9m) this summer, but Benitez insists there is no truth in the rumours.

“I can only say that Simon Kjaer is not on our agenda at the moment,” he told Stadionews24.

“I can say that if Daniel Agger were to leave, we are not planning to bring him in as a replacement.”

He's a blonde Agger I believe, a CB who can actually play football as well as a CM. Good passer, not to sure on his defending as of yet as he does play in Italy and its a hell of alot slower there

A good young player, plays with Agger for the national team and comes from a long line of excellent danish defenders who can stop the opposition and play football.

Would need time to adapt to the PL, but has all the attributes we need and more.

He has already said that he would like to come here, and would be a great signing IMO.

Any source? Other than the one of him saying he wants to play with Agger.

S'alright mate. The original thread was in the Kop board as the summer transfer board has only been placed back on the forum recently.

I would love to see this lad. He's a lot like Agger, good CB but can spray the ball around as well. I think he would fit in great and he and Daniel could form a great partnership for years to come.

I like him as well. Rate him above Skrtel to be honest

In fairness, give Ayala a couple of years and I think he'll be in the same park.

BUT, I'd buy him for the right price if we had the funds.

Don't rate him myself. If he plays like he does in Serie A in the Premier League he'll be done and dusted.
