      Rafa: The 'For Sure' thread
      Nov 16, 2007 09:05:47 pm
Please post any interview in which Rafa mentions his golden phrase

Post Besiktas at Anfield (November 7th 2007)

"The other teams know we are dangerous now," said the Liverpool manager. "Porto have to come here next and they will be worried after this result, for sure. They have plenty of experience in Europe, so they can handle the pressure of the occasion, but we have shown tonight that we can put pressure on the pitch.

"We had the belief we could qualify before this game and we know we must win our last two games. If we win the next two then I am sure we will be there."

On injury problems (15th November 2007)

"Agger is improving a lot, and he has started running now," said the Spaniard.

Yossi Benayoun, who has been ruled out of Israel's clash with Russia on Saturday with a groin problem, also has a chance of facing Newcastle.

"Yossi is working with the physios now. We will have to see if he is fit for Newcastle, it's still too early to say," added the manager.

"He and Agger are maybes but perhaps it will be easier for Agger than for Benayoun."

However, Xabi Alonso, also out with a metatarsal problem, has already been ruled out of the visit to Newcastle.

Benitez added: "Xabi should start running in the next week but he is a 'no' for Newcastle, for sure."

This has to be manager 'slang' as I remeber both Ruud Gullit and Sven Erikkson would use the phrase.

That said this is the only comparison I would wish to make!!

      JD,

You are clearly struggling for threads tonight!!

When we hear Rafa say 'to be honest' or 'to be fair' I will then start to worry!

How many of you can speak a 2nd language?

...and be able to do interviews (live on the telly in front of millions) in that language that you have (relatively) just learnt.

Give him a break he is a genius, for sure.

First off - he could speak English before he came to Liverpool.

Secondly - I don't remember entitling this thread - 'Rafa: Let's discuss his command of the English language.'

Try reading the very first sentence of the thread.  It's in bold.

Haha me! ;D Scouse, Spanish and English! ;)

In the interview after we beat Chelsea in 2005's semi-final!

He added: "Normally it would be AC Milan, with the experience of Italian teams and being 2-0 up.

"But after that, why can't we win? If we have beaten Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus and Chelsea, why not AC Milan or PSV? It's possible, for sure.

      I know it's a retrospective one but I couldn't get any new contributions! ;D
