he reminds me of Micah Richards. everybody thought he'd turn out to be a world class CB, but he now play regularly at right back and is brilliant there.

I think he does an excellent job at right back, so until we actually come across a situation in which he needs to move in keep him on the right.

Kelly is looking like a better right back than Johnson at the momment.

How exactly what has Johnson done wrong in his first two games back considering we have kept two clean sheets

Personally I like the look of Coates as our future centre back and of course Andre Wisdom coming through. Think Kelly will spend a long time as a right back because although he has all the attributes a centre back requires he is developing into a world class right back with attacking and defensive skills of the highest calibre. If he develops his ability to beat a man a bit more than simply knock and run I think we could have a real gem on our hands and to lose this engine he has by moving him inside would be a mistake for me. He has the ability to get up and down the pitch without being caught out of position for 90mins it seems and that is rare.

Don't get me wrong I think he'd be fantastic in the middle too, but I think we may already have the cover there in Agger/Skrtel/Coates/Wisdom for when JC hangs up his boots and ofc in injury trouble times Martin can step in. I believe he's said himself that he now feels his best position is right back too which is ofc a good thing as I believe that's where he's staying for the next decade!

People talk about Carra's eventual replacement and who we are going to buy, someone to dominate and patrol the defence for the next 10 years or whatever. He's already at the club and is getting valuable experience playing at full back in preperation.

For me I can see where you are coming from here. But for now he is first choice RB in my opinion. I would like to see Coates play more alongside Agger. I thought apart from his mistake he had a good game at Stoke, winning everything in the air and at 6'7 is the dominant figure we lack so badly at the moment everytime a ball comes into the box.

But Kelly at CB...I wouldnt mind in the slightest to see him there...hes alot stronger this season...doing well in the U21's and should certainly be a regular in our team..although maybe Kenny is looking after him as he seems to have muscle strains a little bit like Stevie did when he was a similar age!

The answer to this depends on whether Johnson is sold or not and stays injury free.  In time you could argue that Flanagan will be a good right back for us, and even though Kelly does well at right back I still think he is more suited to his natural position in the middle.

There are a lot of questions about our centre-backs at the minute, Carragher isn't getting any younger and Agger does seem to have an injury curse on his head.

I think most of us figure it's only a matter of time before he makes the switch but he's doing very well and looks accomplished at RB for the time being so I think that's where he'll stay for the near future. He certainly has the look of a CB, he's big, strong, fairly quick and passes it quite well. He also plays well in space and has had some excellent games against some of the top wingers in the league over the past 10 months. The only thing I haven't been able to gage so far is how good he is in the air, can he be dominant in this department? Always hard to judge from the full-back position where you are often dealing with diags on the back foot and I can't really recall too much from the few performances we've seen from him at CB. As a full-back he is decent but I wouldn't expect him to be able to necessarily improve the attacking side of his play (dramatically) as some have suggested. I think he will always be a fairly willing player going forward, he will drive with the ball when he has space to run into and he'll knock balls out of his feet, charge the line and deliver a decent cross but I wouldn't expect too much from him. But with Enrique's attacking baility on the left flank you don't necessarily need to echo it on the other side of the pitch.
