True but i can still see us getting some  class players to come to us,Looking at the way city do business dont think we can compete with the likes of them?? when it comes to buying players or offering them Wages. We need a few players that want to be part of Bringing Liverpool back to were we belong. Not the hungry  b***ard that want 150k a week for 8 hours work..

I think it will be a big summer for the owners and the management team to bring in the right players and get us challenging again.Dont think FSG want us hovering round 8th 9th season in season out.

      Of course..

I just meant financially looking at those figures it's not a massive issue right now.. Even with additional CL football income I don't see our owners spending like City do.. Even with that money it will be about getting the scouting and signings right.. That's the same this summer as it would be any other.

Of course additional funds would be great, but I'm not convinced it would all be thrown at transfers anyway.

This years numbers should look better with having the the extra FA cup/Carling cup matches in terms of matchday ticket revenue and media revenue.

Proves an issue I said all along.

Champions League income, unless you get to the semis or final is grossly overexaggerated.

Total club revenue fell by £1M and according to the figures, relating to CL fell by £18M.

You can discuss the merits of finishing 4th in terms of attracting the huge salaried players - but ultimately its loss only accounted for 10% of revenue.  Newer kit deals and sponsorship deals must dwarf that figure.

If CL footy means we can afford to buy half of Stewart Downing every year and pay his salary then it doesn't look quite as attractive.

I always suspected these accounts would contain some big right downs from the last death throes of Hicks and Gillett.  Gut feeling is that next years accounts will look vastly brighter.

      Onwards and upwards.

It is scary how much money has been wasted! Seriously my 7 year old brother tried building a stadium from Lego. Can Hicks give him 35 mil, and it didn't take him "60 days" to start. :P

The only huge benefit Champions League football seems to give (other than the prestige) is an excuse for over paid players to further line their pockets by using the infamous line "I need to be playing Champions League football."

I think it's more than just that. Champions League football doesn't just affect media and matchday income. It also affects commercial revenue. No doubt that you can bargain better commercial deals if you play consistently in the Champions League.

No, obviously Champions League football also really improves our revenue. Our new owners have done really well commercially since they took over, but because we don't play Champions League we're actually not better off yet financially than before as far as revenue goes.

I think CL is important but not backbreaking.

Of course the increased revenue and prestige cannot be just tossed aside but a club the size of LFC can withstand not being in it longer than many others could.

Picture a team for example let's say the size of a Newcastle that would be in the CL for a few years and build the squad and a business model around that extra money. With no worldwide appeal losing that kind of money would be catastrophic while for us its more an annoyance.

Goes to show more than anything how big we truly are.

After a quick glance through the stand out for me is the £16million we have paid out to Rafa, Hodgson and co (£7.8million Rafa 2010, £8.4 Hodgson 2011)

Lets sack Kenny now and really start to grow that figure.

105 part time scouts and coaches!....... and we still can't find a clinical striker.

We could end up paying another £20million for the players we have already bought if certain clauses are fulfilled i.e. if we had made the top 4, won the league, appearances etc etc.

Wages went up by almost 15%, hopefully that was drastically reduced after last summers purge.

Not for me S@int but the stadium planning cost and the fee paid was the stand out, how the F**k did they get away with it?.

Secondly the Pay off to Hodgson beggars belief for 6 months of poor work.

True, having said that there were payments totalling £16.2m to both of them that didn't need to be paid.

Hodgson will be getting another nice one off the FA, double bubble.

Totally agree , the pay off to Hodgson is just unbelievable .
Is it general knowledge he got such a big pay off , because I get sick of reading how badly treated he was at Liverpool . If that's treating you badly I'll gladly take some of that myself.

Im sure i read on this very forum that an ITK had info of a talk done in the changing room with Rafa, purslow and team all present of the direction of the club is heading and that person who posted also said that Rafa was pissed at one Director of how he was fleecing the club for his own personal benefit.

Looking back i Guess it was Hicks he was talking about and the stadium cost.

The lad was banned and the post deleted i thinks.
