Get Pepe! Italian giants AC Milan weigh up move for Liverpool star Reina

AC Milan are considering a move for Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

The Italian giants are looking to rebuild their squad after losing their Serie A title to Juventus last month.

Having rejected a £37million bid from Paris Saint-Germain for Thiago Silva they want to strengthen their defence further and 29-year-old Reina is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Incumbent Milan No 1 Christian Abbiati turns 35 this summer and although he enjoys cult status at the club, Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri was not convinced by his performances last season.

Reina is settled on Merseyside but a club of Milan's stature may prove persuasive with Liverpool in another stage of transition.

The former Barcelona and Villarreal goalkeeper is currently away at Euro 2012 with Spain and has not yet met new Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.

Hope he stays, he is the perfect keeper for Rodgers' style of play provided he doesn't have as many howlers as last season.

AC Milan don't actually have money.

The whole T. Silva saga was a PR thing, so when they don't sell, he is like their big name signing, so the fans don't riot over them only getting cheap and free players.

They can't even afford 4mil for Aquilani ffs.

Berlusoni is president there again so I wouldn't say that they don't have money. I wouldn't pay 4 million for Aquilani either if you can sign Montolivo on a free, which they did.

Can't see this deal happening though.

Keep moving on Milan, you bunch of mugs. Hope we never deal with them in the market ever again.

Milan always seem to take other clubs to the cleaners on transfers.
If we never deal with them again it will be too soon.

Berlusoni is president there again so I wouldn't say that they don't have money. I wouldn't pay 4 million for Aquilani either if you can sign Montolivo on a free, which they did.

IIRC from the last SwissRamble article on them, they have significant losses.

Milan have a lacked a decent keeper for years, I've never rated Abbiati. Reina's going nowhere though, so Milan need to look elsewhere.
