      Fishing Trip - Pic's
      Oct 07, 2007 11:35:07 am
Just got back from 2 weeks up in "Hervey Bay" at a mates place which is about 3 hours north of my place in Brisbane Australia.
I have been dropping in on the forums occasionally but he only has 56k Dial up internet access...
the frustration this causes is only just worse than the frustration of listening to the performance against Marseille...
anyhoo, Hervey bay is basically the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef, Sensational weather is only surpassed by the fishing quality...

Thats my mate Norm in the Pic's
Picture 1 is with a 25lb Golden Trevally,
#2 is with a small Estuary Cod
#3 was a small shark that we scooped up in a net as it was swimming around the boat with about 20 of its
      mates, it was let go
#4 is of a sea snake that swam up and tried to get in the boat, now that got the Adrenalin going...
#5 is a Coral Trout, probably the most prized saltwater eating fish in Australia, we caught about a dozen between 6 - 12lb over the 2 weeks
#6 is Norm again, with another Golden Trevally, this one went 28lb,

Ill post some more pics up when ive converted them down in size

Hi mate! Am I right in thinking the sea snake is one of the most poisonous creature in the World...  :confuzzled:

      "Wikipedia"
"Sea snakes, or "seasnakes", are venomous elapid snakes that have left the land and adapted to a marine environment. They are found in warm coastal waters from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific. All have paddle-like tails and many have laterally compressed bodies that give them an eel-like appearance. However, unlike fish, they do not have gills and must come to the surface regularly to breathe. Nevertheless, they are among the most completely aquatic of all air-breathing vertebrates. Among this group are species with the most potent venoms of all snakes. Some have gentle dispositions and bite only when provoked, while others are much more aggressive.

      ********************************************************

Toxins also are designed to kill prey or, at least, slow them down. This is the tactic used by many snakes. The prize for "The World's Most Venomous Snake" goes to the inland taipan of Australia. But the top prize, "The World Most Venomous Animal," should go to the box jellyfish, which is found in the waters around Asia and Australia. They have long tentacles with stings at the very ends.

Hospitals often carry medicines that work against venom, but treatment has to be very fast to counteract the toxins of these prize-winning creatures.

What's the damage if one of those snakes attack? How long before death..!?  :o :holyshit:

Yes Red, you would be right in thinking that..
as for how long you would have, would really depend on where you got bitten, and how much venom it would have injected...

we where about 2 hours out from land, fishing when we could hear this "Thump, Thump, Thump" sound against the boat,
this one was about 5 - 6ft in length and we went from a nice relaxing snooze in the sun to almost sheer terror when we saw it almost over the side of the boat.... It had a small fishes head in its mouth and didnt like being fended off with anthing that we could get our hands on...
