Our most exciting game last season?
      Nov 16, 2008 01:52:34 pm
Well I was reading through some of the match threads from March and April, and it got me wondering ... what was our most exciting game of last season?

It could depend on several factors, such as how nervous you were before the game, how well you remember the game and what the score was ... but I'd like to know your opinions ;)

For me, it has to be the 2nd Leg v Arsenal in the CL. Very, very dramatic.

Liverpool 4 - 2 Arsenal , Champions League quarter final.

It was awesome. Arsenal started it kickin' with an early goal by Diaby. Hyypia scored a sweet curling header from a Gerrard corner to make it 1-1.

Fernando Torres' unstoppable smash to make it 2-1. Walcott's breathtaking run off about 80 yards to set up Adebayor to make it 2-2.

Stevie G's great penalty kick to make it 3-2 and Ryan Babel wraps up the win with a solo effort.

      WHAT A NIGHT!

3-0 against Newcastle at St James'

For me that was our best game last year, because we tore them apart from start to finish. Created plenty of chances (five for Torres alone) and scored some top class goals. Ryan Babel's goal that game was our best team goal of the season in my opinion, a nice little one and two with Gerrard, pulled back to our Ryan who belted it past Given.

For me that was our best overall performance, so I'll go for that.

Agree with the Arsenal game.  We had no chance apparently to get past them - ended up giving them a good tonking.

I'd go with the 2nd leg Arsenal game too, I think it is one of the best games I've seen. End to end, intensity, it was fantastic all together.

Agreed about the Arsenal Quarter Final.

Was lucky enough to be in the Kop for that match too. What an atmosphere. One minute all is lost, the next we're f*cking bouncing. Torres's goal was something special that night too, although it's not really acknowledged by anyone else because we weren't supposed to win that match! :D

No denying that the Arsenal game certainly sticks in the memory over the rest where excitement comes into it.

But there was certainly a few league games that were exciting to see as well.

Usually the lead up to the first game of the season is pretty exciting, but whether that excitement carries on through the game is not a given. But I think the Villa game was pretty tense and with Gerrard popping up with that beautiful free kick right near the end, was a big buzz!

The contrast of the two Derby games is something that sticks in the memory too. We absolutely demolished them at home and rightly so. The score could have been more!
The away game was more frustrating than exciting but we just about managed to get the three points. You could possibly say that those two games in comparison, defined how our season was in the league.

I enjoyed the West Ham home game as well. Think that was when Torres scored his second hat trick for us?

I can't wait for us to give someone a good pasting soon. It has to be coming!

The 3-0 against WBA was long overdue. But that wasn;t really a thrashing, more a drubbing.

      I reckon 4 or 5-0 against Fulham.

Has to be Arsenal. From high, to low, to high, to a massive low, to euphoric high.
