I believe all of them rate Liverpool higher than all the other clubs in the world and want to work hard to tale this club back to its glory days but if they just dont get to play and theres a threat of their career getting adversely affected any player would want a way out be it Carragher or Gerrard.Agger & Mascherano being the top quality players that they are would walk into any team so if they are not getting the playing time they deserve how can you expect them to still want to stay here & stagnate their growth

I agree with that.. if they dont get playing.. or some bigger club asking for them.. the loyalty gone?
From my memory.. the real loyalty example is Matthew Le Tissier who glue his butt with Southampton for about 15 years even when big club came in for him.
Can someone in Liverpool do that? We almost lose Gerrard when Chelsea hunt him.
We lose Fowler when he did not get his games.
We lose Owen when Liverpool cannot win titles and Real get him.
We lose Macca when Liverpool cannot win titles and Real get him.

When Rush left and come back.. Fowler does that as well. Is that considered loyalty or they always have Liverpool in their heart.

I'm not entirely sure. You may have a point if number 19 doesn't come for Stevie but being born in Liverpool, growing up and captaining his boyhood club, I'd say he's been pretty loyal to us considering he has resisted the temptation to join Chelsea - like twice?. And he said he wanted to leave at that time because he felt Liverpool wanted money more than they wanted him.

You can only really expect true loyalty from local lads or other english players who you know will never leave for any of our premier league rivals.

I don't expect the likes of Torres, Reina or Alonso to stay for the rest of their careers because they'll have a stronger affinity with clubs in Spain. Though Torres did his time for his boyhood team. But Riena & Alonso will want to follow their fathers footsteps and play for Atletico & Barca respectively, i imagine.

And the likes of Kuyt & Benayoun will be plain grateful they are at such a big club, it's as good as it will ever get for them.

I very much doubt that Liverpool ever wanted to sell him. Parry might be a knob but surely he was not considering to sell the clubs No.1 player? He clearly stated he wanted to go, not once but twice, yes eventually he did stay but doesnt mean he is loyal.

I feel Carra is a better leader than Gerrard, plus has a better chance of being a manager than Gerrard.

Gerrard said in a documentary, and probably his book (which I haven't read yet *dodge rotten fruit*) that he was only conidering leaving because h thought the club wanted money rather than him. He said he was close to leaving but not 100% wanting to.

Do you mean to say those who watch matches at anfield or have been there have the right to crticise? Its not possible for hundreds or maybe thousands of fans around the world(including me) to make a trip there at the moment but that doesnt make them any less of a Red.If the criricism is fair, its good enough whether its coming from Merseyside or Greenland.

When I went to the match in the 70's 80's and 90's if someone slagged of or made a comment about Liverpool and they didnt go to the games they were told in no uncertain terms that shall we say their point was not valid as they didnt go the match. I have always thought that the supporters who go to all the games home and away as well as Europe do have more right to criticise.

Are you talking about the same people who leave the ground 10 minutes from time when things are not going our way?I accept going week in & week out to support your team can make your opinion a bit more worthy as compared to those who dont but you just cant have it as a right, you have to earn it.

In modern, money driven, football to only loyalty that's "ever-present" is the loyalty of the fans to their team.

I watched my daughter sob after we lost the 2007 final in Athens but I knew that 2 or 3 days later the vast majority of our mega-rich stars would be jetting off to a luxury holiday without a second thought. Sure, there are exceptions to the rule but we've all seen the badge kissers. If these dudes were of a loyal disposition then surely it follows that they'd still be with the clubs that made them.

I'm not saying it's wrong for players to want to better themselves or make more money. Just don't confuse this drive with loyalty. We are loyal - most players aren't.

Anyone who goes to away games for me is a true supporter especially to places like Portsmouth. Equally valid is the point were watching the match on tele is completely different than being at the match. How many people who slag of Lucas have actually seen him play. You definitely get a different perspective at the match compared to the tele. As for people leaving early a you cant in away matches and b only a small number leave early and you can call them what you will along with the few who left in Istanbul at half time.

Cuts both ways and much has to do with career advancement. Players being competitive employees, many will fight for playing time and winning something without contributing is meaningless to them. I believe every local lad who is a red fan wants to make it into our first team. And if they are not up to it, they simply have to find employment elsewhere. But if they are first team material and are obsessed with glamour, trophies, money, international caps, at other teams/clubs, then I will consider these players disloyal.

Its always encouraging to see Fowler return to LFC on a deep paycut and Carra saying there is no bigger team (includes his caps) to play for than LFC. And he backed it up with action.

I'm with you on this one, Stevie has thought about leaving us twice.  Carra would never consider leaving unless he was past his playing best and it was for the good of Liverpool Football Club.

what we all have to realise is that these guys are only human, if they don't play then anybody who loves playing will have to look at leaving. I would hate to see Agger leave, he's been immense for us and i believe he wants to stay but the guy just wants to play and the way Carra and Martin have been performing he's just not gettin the chance.
