To me its always been the same, even in the 80s when we were famed for 'Mereseypride', you always got your fair share of hatred on both sides but the bitters have the ability to take it to a different level. I remember as a kid standing at the back of the Park End in the early 80s and being constantly spat on from above by grown men, you just wouldnt would you? But you see my point.

In defense of the bitters  :f_tongueincheek:. If you had to endure watching teams like that Joe Royle produced year in year out you'd be bitter too especially when the team across the park just happen to be Liverpool the most succesful club in England. They have the little man with a chip on his shoulder and complain at every given opportunity.
Life would be much less fun without them.

Apparently there was trouble on Sunday between West Ham and Spurs, but F**k all was said because it was away from the ground.

Sunderland and Hearts in a pre-match friendly as well there was a massive ruck leaving three mackems in hospital. But of course, when it's not broadcast as pitch trouble on Sky nobody says a word.

Yeah lad know about stuff like that. Heard a story about a Liverpool Fan in the new Park end having Hot Coffee thrown over him and his 8 year old son by a middle aged Evertonian.

Not football fans them mate. :f_steam:

I really hope them Blue bas**rds go down this season! It will finally put them in their place and realise that they are not a big team anymore....I say anymore, like they ever were.....then again if it were not for 1985 ;D.

If they are that eager to fight, then why can't they just rent out a disused warehouse somewhere and beat each other to their hearts content.

That's what they do in Eastern Europe. Mad 'Ed's they are.

I don't think it would escalate to that kind of violence. I think Hammer's and Millwall was always going to go off due to the history of their two firms. And sh*te films like Footy Factory and Green Street hasn't helped, just made young lad's think they are in the film, and have a go.

I watched Liverpool v Manure in Manc City Center 'cos I'm at University here, and I was one of very few in the pub. I got a bit of stick from some old timer's but that's about it. Obviously it depends where you go to watch a match. If I went into Brannigan's in Manc City Center, then I would get the sh*te kicked out of me, but most of the time it's alright really. Just some colourful banter.

Bitter's always take it too far. I remember a lad started going on about Hillsborough in school 'cos we beat them in league a few years back. No matter how much I hate Utd or Everton, I wouldn't talk about tragedy's like Munich etc. But I'm guessing that is the difference between real football fans and the minority who are still stuck in the 70's.

I am honestly delighted to read such a judicious cogitations by a majority of people here.

Unfortunately in my country each single derby is overshadowed by violence from hooligans which come to stadiums only for that reason and not to enjoy a good game  :-[

This was the first Goodison derby I've missed in ages, in fact I think the last one I missed was the game when Nicky Tanner scored his one and only Liverpool goal. The last time I saw us win there though, was the game when Jim Beglin broke his leg. As I mentioned in the Leeds report, I was offered a ticket for this game but turned it down, mainly because I didn't fancy us and that there's no worse place to go and see the reds lose than the Pit.

So I was stuck with Sky TV for the evening, and the inane ramblings of Dave Bassett. The evening got off to a despicable start, when our 'friendly neighbours' disrupted the minutes silence for the 96. Unfortunately, this was an entirely predictable turn of events, and if there is anyone out there who was surprised by it then you are obviously lucky enough not to know many Evertonians. I'm told that the reds' in the ground responded to it, which made things even worse. The best thing to do in such circumstances is to keep quiet until the minute is over, and then let rip into the disrespectful fuckers.

I'm sure that the vast majority of Evertonians in the the ground were appalled and ashamed of what went on, and it would be wrong to blame all Evertonians for what went on. However, to claim that is was just a tiny minority would be stretching the truth to breaking point. This is something that has been building for a while, with reports of blues singing Hillsborough songs in the Stanley Park pub after the Anfield derby earlier this season, and other isolated incidents becoming more and more frequent.

I've said many times that my loathing of Everton far eclipses that which I have for the mancs. Many reds can't understand that, but maybe after last night's goings on they're beginning to get the picture. As each year passes, the blues become more and more bitter and poisonous. You only have to look at the screwed up faces, all contorted with rage and bile, as they spew out venom towards anything connected with the reds. And that's just Ferguson, Unsworth and Ball, the fans are even worse.

Whenever any of our lads had to go near the crowd, you could see the abuse they were getting. I've just watched the re-run of the game on Sky this afternoon, and distinctly saw one bitter screaming "You F***ing Nazi b***ard" at Markus Babbel when he went over to take a throw in. Carragher took plenty of stick whenever he went to take a throw, and there were the usual 'smackhead' remarks directed at Fowler. Such friendly folk the blues. I'm going to leave it at that for now though.

Read this on the Internet just now, this is what the bitter blue bas**rds are like. Singing Hillsborough songs, they are from Liverpool and knew the heartache that the families felt. Sick Bitter Blue bas**rds :f_steam:

There are always going to be knob-heads going to football matches to cause trouble, its the law of averages, and thankfully it is just a minority, and to the sad little souls who want to sing Hillsborough songs, one day it will come back to haunt them because what go's around comes around.
