Spearing, like Stevie, has one thing that is really in his favour. He is versitile. He is at his best in the middle of the park, but he can play centre half or right back if needed. Plus he can the holding or advancing role from midfield. So there's a lot of options open to him and Benitez to find him a place.
I don't think we'll see him much this season, maybe a few more outings in the Champions League when the tie is won. But in the league, it's more realisic to assume he won't be featuring too much. But providing he's fit, then Jay will get a few more outings in next season's pre-season games to see how he does. Hopefully he'll be given an outing in the Charity Shield as well (if we're there) because it's not exactly the most important game of the season so it's a chance to see players in action. Next season will be the confirmation of whether Spearing features in the long run of things at Anfield or not.
