Liverpool FC hits back at 'meanest club' label
      Mar 26, 2007 12:25:44 pm
LIVERPOOL FC last night hit back at a survey which claimed the club was the meanest in the Premiership for giving money to charity.

The survey claimed that club accounts showed no money from Anfield had been given directly to charity in the last financial year. In contrast, Everton FC came third in the charitable league with donations making a total of £82,984.

Intelligentgiving.com, a not-for-profit company based in London aimed at helping people to give cash to charity with confidence, conducted the survey.

A spokesman for Liverpool FC last night said the survey was not a fair reflection of the club’s commitment to good causes.

He said: “The club does a lot for the local community. We do not have a separate area in our accounts for this but our budget for the community work we do runs into hundreds of thousands of pounds.

That's absolute b0llocks, basing it on how much has been given directly to charity. It doesn't take into account all the work we do with the community directly, or items that we donate for charity auctions. Just another example of how figures can be twisted to make them say whatever you want them to.

I think im going to vomit,

Ian Ross, spokesman for Everton FC, said: “We live up to the name our manager, "The Chosen One", gave us, the People’s Club. We are proud of that.

“We like to think a club is about so much more than just football, it’s about give and take with the local community.

“We have always been a community-based club.

Correction its a care in the community club, Rafa had one little dig and even though it was true they were up in arms revolting(yes i know they are!) Yet we get this peoples club b*llocks chucked out at every chance they get. As for being a charitable club you only have to luck at the doughnuts who play in the team and the numbskulls who skulk on the terraces to realise that they really are a charitable organisation.

      WHAT!??

      Are they for real.

We're about to be involved in re-developing an entire area that has been run-down for years in Anfield.  Who are these pri**ks?

Everton - the people's club my arse. They can't even get 'people' in to watch them play.

Liverpool are easily one of the more charitable sides, and have been more than accomodating the last few months particular, with money raising campaigns at Anfield.

      Total media nonsense.
